Struck poetical by a response to a review.
No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

I wasn't sure, so I did ask,
"How do you approach this task?"
"Just be honest, and be truthful",
She replied. She's not a fool.

I read, and read, only then
Did I reach for my sharp pen.
"You have talent, let me say,
But that works better this way".

I did not want him to stop,
I just wanted him to shop
For the words, all so divine
Just plain perfect for his line.

I thought those with a talent
Would not have me be a gallant.
I would share my hard-won lore
And then they would become more!

So when I was vilified,
I nearly ran home, and cried!
He wrote back and was so cruel,
But I did not want a duel.

I want to help, selflessly
Instead I harmed, needlessly.
From now on I will review
Only those fortunate few.

Those who want to hone their craft,
Those who will not be so daft.
Just four point O, and above,
Reviews of works that I love.

Those who have no great big need
Their teensy ego so to feed.
I can't help them to improve,
They've all found their perfect groove.

And those ones who cannot write,
Well, I'll just bid them goodnight.
Ha! Let them write complete dreck,
It's no skin off my, er, neck!
