A night of Halloween blood lust |
Silhouetted against the orange harvest moon Old apple trees, who have seen their last bloom Sway to and fro, with a crick and a creek My heart hammers hard, so that I can't speak In the valley behind me, the way I just came The voices grow louder, and louder the same An evil spreads quickly, through the hearts of men An ancient war waged, since time without end I continue running, though my legs and lungs burn Toward the dead tree, where I stop and I turn As a sight to behold, begins to take place The Townsfolk have gathered, and started the chase They know I am real, though no shred of proof remains to be seen, I have stayed so aloof If ever I'm seen by a side glancing eye I'll return to extinguish to that curious life The light of a hundred torches in flame They stick close together in cowardly shame A beacon I see, through the thickest of trees I back track around them so easily I head into town, where the witness is kept They guard her so closely, and yet so inept I slip by in the shadows and into her room alive and invigered by cherubic perfume I clean up my mess as I finish my feed A stain on the mattress is all I will leave There's nothing quite like it, the taste when it's fresh The man-meat still warm, that sharp human flesh They'll know it was me, who devoured the girl They'll live with the knowledge, I've entered their world Let their nightmares be filled with visions of me my teeth in their throat, preventing their scream The harvest moon falters and falls to the ground As the village behind me erupts with the sounds The horror, the terror, their fear of the night Their search ends abruptly, they wait for the light But by morning I'm vanished, gone with the wind Un-noticed among them, I'm human again We bury the body, sacred prayers for her soul My loss is too great, but they try and console In regrettable fashion, I've taken the life Of the one that I love, who would soon be my wife My stomach still fat, with the flesh from her bones She shouldn't have seen me, she shouldn't have known This affliction, for centuries without an end This painful reminder of what I really am I give to the darkness, with no ire or spite By the light of the moon, undercover of night A new village awaits, many miles away A new life to be started, I'm leaving today Fear the full lunar light, fear the loss of control Fear inevitable fire in the pits down below The curse will be with me, til the day that I die The evil within me, which keeps me alive By the harvesting moon, in the fields bathed in light I'll be harvesting blood every Halloween night |
