Even though my grandpa has passed on, he will forever be with me.
I know you’ll be here
When I graduate from college
Even if you know you could teach me more
Than my professors ever could.

I know you’ll be here
When I begin my career
Even if you think I work too many hours
And I’m not paid enough.

I know you’ll be here
On my wedding day
Even if you can’t help but wonder
If he’s the right man for me.

I know you’ll be here
When I have children of my own
Even if you’re not here to share with them
The memories I now cherish so deeply.

I know you’ll be here
When it’s my time to die
And we both are aware
That we’ll finally meet again.

I know you’ll be here
Because I’ll take you with me
Through all my happiest times
And any obstacles life throws my way.

I know you’ll be here
Because I can’t just let you go
I am watching your body get weaker
As your spirit becomes stronger in my heart.

I know you’ll be here
Because in every decision I make
I know I’ll always ask myself
If it’s what you would want me to do.

All I can do now is promise you
That you’ll never truly die
Because though your body will be gone
I’ll make sure you’re always here.
