A mother's dedication to her growing daughter.
She use to sing with Barney,
Today she loves Hilary Duff.
She use to adore her waterbaby,
One day she'll love someone else and adore other stuff.

She's halfway there, this child of mine.
Yet there's so many steps left to climb.
I pray she takes them slowly...one by one.
Holding onto the rail, but not afraid to run.

She's growing up so fast,
I can barely catch my breath.
She's surprised me recently,
And she's put me to the test.

I'd like to stop and smell the roses,
but when I try, I see a door and it closes.

She's working now, just a little bit.
Earning some money, hardly enough to split.
She thinks it's great, it puts a smile on her face.
I only wish I could slow the pace.

Can I stop time?
We all know the answer to that.
She's not yet grown up,
But I can't hold her back.
