I sit in a room full of people, sometimes I drift and I find myself in memory lane
There is a place within my heart I go as often as I can,
Across the bridge of memories that any time can span.
I walk with loved ones laughing, rainbows in the sky,
I view again life's events with an inward seeing eye.

I can be a child again back in halcyon days,
Or be anywhere with anyone, pass by in a haze
Of fleeting glimpses, or sometimes a longer time,
No pain is felt, no remorse, just a feeling so sublime.

Often in the great outdoors in endless days of sun,
I feel again excitement, the sense of having fun,
But rain can also follow, that's how a rainbow shows.
It's a reflection from within that now outwardly glows.

In a spectrum that is awesome, colouring my dreams,
A sense that I could reach out and touch, it realy, truly seems,
That reality is what I see, no confusion here abides,
And yet my life is still back there, it's not me who decides

When I will leave the living world; where I sit with vacant stare,
Whether alone or in a crowded room in spirit I'm not there.
For across that bridge called memory I've temporarily flown
To enjoy that awesome spectrum with the loved ones I have known.
