TIRED
** Image ID #870099 Unavailable **
Sometimes a trucker does
what a trucker has to do -
leave the load and drive on;
that is nothing new!

Forty miles of highway passed
when the load began to spill,
he couldn't face the task alone;
the thought just made him ill.

So he unhooked and drove away
promising to come back real fast,
knowing that the tires were safe
from folks who might drive past.

Yet there's a mystery herein -
the tires have a future bright;
they someday will be retreads,
if the driver gets back tonight.

More likely they'll become swings
to charm children somewhere.
or a playground gym to romp in
and tires don't really care

Whether they get a face-lift
and get back upon the road,
or if they serve the purpose
of lightening a youngun's load.

For now they are an eyesore,
a blot on the roadside scenery,
Will they ever, ever make it
to the retread factory?

A few made it to a swimming hole
and some are on Jim's chevrolet,
a couple made real good planters,
and one swung a child at play.

The moral of this story
leaves much to be desired;
If the load is left beside the road,
it'll eventually be re-tired.
