They wanted Jack S. to be someone. He wanted to be nothing.
Jack Shit was a good little boy
So good, in fact
He was nearly perfect
I remember him well
But actually, like you and me
He was something of a fuck up
And a failure
Yes, a failure, and a grave disappointment
They wanted him to be a lawyer
But he had other ideas
He didn’t want to be anything
So goes the story of Jack Shit
The nihilist

Jack Shit didn’t want to be anything
So that’s exactly what he became
Nothing
So much so in fact
That he ceased to exist
Disappeared completely
Well anyway
Before he left
He led a meaningless life
He was searching
For what, doesn’t matter
He was taking up time
Watching the clock go by
Punching in, checking out
Leaving for lunch, back by the afternoon

What’s the matter with you Jack
His boss would scream
When he didn’t dot his I’s correctly
And forgot to cross every T
How dumb are you? This isn’t complicated
His boss raged
His face red with anger
Oh, how stupid was Jack Shit, whose mind wandered like a river cutting through rock
Slowly, it moved
But it moved nonetheless
Oh the humilation of it all
Jack Shit, lowly Jack
The fear
The recognition
His life was leaving him
What a waste

Hey Jack, want a drink?
No thanks he said
Hey Jack, want a cigarette?
No thanks he said
Hey Jack want a joint?
No thanks he said
Jack didn’t do these things
But everyone else did these things
Jack refused to disappear into
The mindless vacumn
Of doing what everyone else was doing
Just to say he did it too
That wasn’t Jack’s style
Or, if he had a style
That wouldn’t have been it
Thank God for Jack Shit
The Savior of Moral Self Righteous Indignation
But he was nothing
So nobody knew
And his rage was for naught
because he was naught too

One day he didn’t return
He was gone, in the physical sense
As in: nobody knew where the body of Jack Shit could be found
And nobody knew where he went
But nobody knew he had ever came
So nobody bothered to look for him
Because nobody knew he was lost
He wasn’t missed
Because nobody thought to miss him

And so
We have a conclusion to this story
Which has no moral, little plot, and lots of
Contrived ambiguity
The conclusion:

Jack Shit, the nothing life
Died somewhere in middle management
Having accomplished nothing
Learned nothing

His tombstone
Which nobody visits
Because nobody knows where to find it
Reads thus:

Jack Shit
He consumed air
But he never breathed.
