He's down on his luck
Along The Way

He sits lonely on the road, wishing he had somewhere to go
He has no money, he has no friends
There are so many people who never wanna see him again
How did I get here? He asks himself
When will I get out? He asks himself
He thought that freedom would be better than this
Desires always have setbacks, that's the way it is

His girlfriend left him for a millionaire
She dropped him off on the streets and she stranded him there
He thought she was the only thing that he wouldn't lose
But she left him too soon for his point to be proved
Why did she leave me? He asks himself
Will she come back? He asks himself
He thought that freedom would be better than this
Desires always have setbacks, that's the way it is

And I walk by, and he says:
"Can you help me here? I've been here way too long
And I have no place to go"
I gave him all the money that I had on me
And I said, "here you go"
Then he ran to the liquor store
Later, I walked by once more
I saw him passed out on the solid concrete
Right beside the door

How did I get here? He asks himself
When will I get out? He asks himself
He thought that money would be better than this
Desires always have setbacks, that's the way it is
