Got a clever pet octopus? See if it can solve all of these simultaneously.
Riddle 1

A friend for all the lonely dogs,
Sailors, lovers, wolves and moths,
Watching over every home,
Tranquil, silent, calm, alone.
Some days silver, others blue
(Orange, white and yellow too),
His pockmarked, lifeless face is cold
And made of cheese (or so I'm told).

Riddle 2

I am a clever skeleton,
Shackled to a silver chain.
Let me out; I'll let you in.
Then hide me in the dark again.

Riddle 3

'No', 'Any', 'Every', 'Some'
Sometimes all and sometimes none
I label this and that the same
Solve the riddle: what's my name?
With 'no' I last forever
With 'every' I must change
With 'any' I am possible
With 'some' I always come along
With 'no' I can turn back the hands of time
With 'every' I come to an end
With 'any' I can happen
With 'some' I am in the air
'No', 'Any', 'Every', 'Some'
Sometimes all and sometimes none
I label this and that the same
Solve the riddle: what's my name?

Riddle 4

Six and twenty little men
Battle bravely til the end.
Helped by horses, wives and keeps,
While fallen lie in wooden heaps.
Armed with skewers, forks and pins,
They strike in turn 'til one side wins
And claims the chequered field of war.
Then all line up to march once more.

Riddle 5

Find your key
Unlock my bars.
Composed of scales,
I'm from the stars.
If lovers hunger,
I'm the feast,
And I can soothe
The savage beast.

Riddle 6

I am the finest years and ages,
And the most important rule.
I am silence (say the sages).
I can make the greedy drool.
Seize your opportunities,
Which are also made from me,
Then you'll have such happy days,
Enjoying summers that I've made.

Riddle 7

Stretched around the world am I.
Trash and wisdom, side by side.
A library without books or walls,
You cannot walk my endless halls,
That change and grow with every day.
But you can wander, search and play
with clicks and taps, a million mice.
Now, can you tell me: what am I?

Riddle 8

Old man
In the hall
Stands still
Proud and tall.
No arms;
Hands that chase,
Circling
His empty face,
Slowly counting
Through the night.
Listen...
And...
You'll...
Hear...
Him...
STRIKE!
