Roses

By: Tracey Criswell Wilson

The roses bloomed so beautifully this year.
She remembered how her husband loved them so.
He always cut the most gorgeous one for her.
She thought back with a smile and smelled the roses.

She remembered how her husband loved them so.
And tenderly would place them behind her ear.
She smiled at him lovingly and kissed his lips.
The fragrance of the sweet roses filled the air.

He always cut the most gorgeous one for her.
She remembered how he always made her smile.
Such romantic nights, with roses everywhere.
They would dance the night away, and laugh and play.

She thought back with a smile and smelled the roses.
This is the day she would cut one just for him.
A deep red, velvety one was so perfect.
She placed it on his grave; the last rose they'd share.
