Poem I created when I thought what would it be to see my mom die. My mom is still alive
If I told you
To truly love me
Not a cheap imitation
Of love that always
Hurts me

Would you?

If I told you
To go have fun
And I would finish
The laundry that
Was left undone

Would you go?

If I told you
That you’re the
Light of my world
And hug you tightly
As we twirled

Would you love me more?

If I told you everything
Would be alright
Even if it hurt me to see
You in a hospital bed
In the dead of the night

Would you believe me?

To hold your hand
And never shed a tear
Even if I knew your
End was drawing near

Would you promise not to be afraid?

I kissed your cheek
That night when I
Opened my eyes
I received such a fright

Your eyes were closed
A smile exposed
Your life was gone
They took you away
I didn’t know what to say

I sit here the time; dawn
Sitting here quietly on my lawn
I sit crying, cause
I miss you mom
