Signs

At the stop light today
I saw a sign being posted.
The governments in charge,
the sign clearly boasted.

As another sign
was posted today,
another freedom
was stripped away.

Signs above signs
stating the law.
But what if a sign
should happen to fall?

What happened to our diverse Nation?
It's all slowly fading away.
People came for unparalleled freedoms
that no longer will exist one day.

As another sign
was posted today,
another freedom
was stripped away.

How very sad for our great nation,
and for those who fought to be free.
We had honor, justice, and pride,
but now we only have decrees.

Men fought on this land to give us these freedoms.
A tragic number lost their lives.
They fought for their families and children,
for their homes and their way of life.

As another sign
was posted today,
another freedom
was stripped away.

What would our founding fathers think today?
Would they say all the signs must be taken away?
