Beyond the twist in the road
Oh, about a mile or so away
Is a big old ugly junkyard
That people drive by everyday
An eye-sore amid a field of wheat
Finding beauty there might be hard
But hidden under all that scrap
Another world exists in that yard
Beneath the heaps of junk
Amongst the rust inhibited metals
Popping up here and there
Are daisies with yellow-tipped petals
Protected from the dangers beyond
Wildlife lives, hidden and unaware
Like the nest of furry little bunnies
That were born and are sheltered there
A little further down a piece
Is a hive full of busy bees
Buzzing and flitting from hive to hive
Pollinating as they please
Next to a demolished chevy van
A litter of kittens play together
Every discarded item offers protection
From the hazards of the weather
The birds lay their eggs
Far enough away from the kitties
They all travel from heap to heap
Each creating their own little cities
So, if you come to a twist in the road
And you see a rust infested junkyard
Look for daisies with yellow-tipped petals
Maybe finding beauty, won't be so hard
