a poem of the results of child abuse |
A small child innocent and sweet Only three years on her feet Big eyes, light hair, trusting smile Innocence that lasts for only a short while. Someone she trusts with all she has Hurt her and the hurt just wont pass Took her to that private place A reality that she could not face Pushed the memory deep inside A place only her brain could hide. Parents fought almost everyday Wasn’t much she could do or say They finally gave up and called it quits Alone in her room is where the Lil princess sits They argue and they fight Pulling her in two with all their might Judge decides with her mom is where she’ll stay Daddy just turns around and walks away She tries to be the good girl they say to be But theres a pain inside crying to be free She smiles everyday doing what’s expected Feeling loved but at the same time neglected Always felt something wasn’t right The memory remained in her mind, out of sight Together, alone with the guy of her dreams A vision in her head makes her scream In his arms he holds her tight Lets her know it’ll be alright He tells her she did nothing wrong They’ll face it together and be strong Shame and guilt runs through her veins A man she trusted caused all this pain Now she’s a woman, all grown Has kids of her very own Lives her life the normal way Trying to make it through each day There are some days that are really rough She holds up her head and tries to be tough A day she prays he regrets A day she wishes she could still forget Her heart breaks at the thought of that day When he took her innocence away. |
