I HAD A LONG TALK WITH GOD

Once, in the quiet of morning,
I looked out at my piece of earth
And considered all that I was lacking
Since the very time of my birth!

Then I decided to find out
Just what my destiny would be;
I went out to the garden
To see if HE would tell me.

I had a long talk with God;
I told Him all of my woes,
HE just smiled and waited
For me to come to a close.

But I wasn't finished, no sir!
I told Him how hard I have tried
To make a good, honest living
And by the rules to abide.

I told Him I wasn't satisfied
To be living with hardship and debt;
I told Him I couldn't understand
Why I hadn't found happiness yet.

Some people live in luxury,
And yet I am doomed to despair;
I asked Him if I was in danger,
Would He really be there?

No word from the Master was spoken,
Yet the sunbeams shone from above;
And my eyes soon beheld wonders
Of all of His mystery and love.

I no longer felt any anger,
No longer felt any pain -
A peace like I'd never imagined
Came over me like fresh rain.

I turned to ask Him the reason
But was sure the answer had come;
I bowed my head in reverence
Saying "Father, thy will - be done".

I've learned to trust Him completely,
My soul and my life is in His Hands;
And I know that He will not forsake me,
For I - am one of His lambs.
