As the spring day dawned,
One like any other, without much ado.
The black coated locust,
Quietly marched into view.
At first just a nuisance
Without much concern, all must leave
On the long darkened trains.
Packed so tightly, faces dazed with grief,
The trip to destiny and camps of prison
Would leave marks on arms and heart.
Sorted, seperated, cleansed, and shorn
All were torn and kept apart.
The showers were used busily each day,
To cleanse the weak, the old and unneeded.
Like wheat from the chaff the strong were shaken,
And the discarded were showered away, and weeded.
Innocence was abused,
Truth was locked behind closed doors.
All that entered the camps,
Were changed forever more.
The tragedy was visited on a race that day,
The horror was spread to all that knew.
Broken lives and futures, littered the yards.
A reminder to tomorrow,
That history repeats itself,
Unless we all work at changing it.
