Although this love is different, better, there are still some storm clouds along the way.
Teach Me, Lord
By Marilyn Mackenzie

Just Clouds

Teach me, Lord
How to love, how to forget, how to forgive.
Show me how to open my heart, my very soul.
Why is it so hard for me to know, to understand,
That the man you’ve selected for me is different?
Why can’t I allow him to enter the inner portions
Of my heart, where only You have entered before?
Teach me, Lord, how to love.

Teach me, Lord
How to share, how to care, how to be real.
Show me how to let the past be buried forever.
Why is it so hard for me to let go, to know how
To show my love that what I feel for him is different?
Why can’t I put away past hurts, and show him that
This love we share is deeper, stronger than all others?
Teach me, Lord, how to love.

Thank you, Lord
That as I enter this life-long love affair you’ve ordained,
You’ve given my soul-mate patience and understanding.
That he is prepared to wait, as I grow in spirit and truth.
That in obedience to You, he hides his suffering well,
That his heart turns warmer, not cold, as my storm
Rages and dies out, to be replaced by rainbows given by You.
Thank you, Lord, for his love.

Thank you, Lord
That even as I learn and grow, I can offer understanding
Of my own, to the man you’ve given me, the man we share.
That as he searches for his true purpose, his part in
Declaring your Kingdom, I can offer a helping hand.
That in obedience to You, I can hide my suffering well,
That my heart turns warmer, not cold, as his storms,
Rage and die out, to be replaced by rainbows given by You.
Thank you, Lord, for my love.

Teach us both, Lord, how to love.
Remain in us, for we are weak.
Remind us of our purpose, our mission,
And help us conquer evil that surrounds us.
Thank you, Lord, for teaching us to love.
We rejoice in knowing we are Yours.
