Little nooks where other-dimensional writers and thinkers enjoy deep conversations. |
Nearly every library has at least one. Older and bigger libraries may have more than one. You know, awkward little corner spaces down at the end of a regular row of books, where the space turned out to be too small to put another row. So instead they just put some comfy wingback chairs there, and maybe a little vintage side table, with a crocheted doily and a few old, scuffed-up books. Scarcely any library visitors would ever really notice these nooks, tucked away as they were. But actually, it turns out they were just perfect for a special sort of visitor - from another dimension, you see - great thinkers and ponderers who drift in from every era, every place where people ever lived and dreamed, thinkers who crave the deep, enthralling conversations of like-minded souls. In fact, no one could have kept them away, unencumbered as they are now by… well, anything, actually… writers, philosophers, artists, inspirers. It's only natural, you know, that they'd come together in such nooks, and who knows what unfathomable thoughts and ideas flourish in such perfect hidey-holes. Entirely unlikely that anyone would ever see or hear them, in that other dimension they now enjoy. Although it may be possible - you’d remember - that somehow, once, you had just a feeling, that caused you to linger, as if there was something special going on, and you needed to be very still and sort of… listening. Not that you'd ever want to disturb them or anything… Of course not… Right? |
