A Galleon In The Sky

“The moon is full. The thirst is upon me!” Roland Weir thought wildly. He opened his casement window, leaned out as far as he could. He pointed his elongating nose to the sky and began to howl.

A pack of wolves appeared and began milling beneath the window.

“Yes, me hearties! Time to hunt!” he said to them when his transformation was complete. Effortlessly, he leaped from the high window and landed in the midst of the pack. Upon his arrival, he went to the head of the group and began to lead them to the docks.

In his old life, which he barely remembered, Roland had been a pirate. When he’d gone into the woods to bury his booty, a wolf had attacked and bit him. By the next full moon, he was no longer only a man.

In his human form, he often searched the woods for his lost treasure. But try as he might, he couldn’t find it. On the thought that his scurvy crew had taken it for themselves, he went to the dockyard to scout for his ship, the Black Diamond Queen. If it was a full moon, he slaked his unholy thirst on whoever he could find, then looked for his ship.

This time he spotted her familiar outline. But her name was now The Diamond of England. But he knew in his bones, it was her and lead his pack aboard her.

The captain was fighting off his pack when Roland jumped for his throat. A sword of silver was driven into his heart, and he dropped to the ground. Immediately, he turned back into a dead pirate.

“Ah Captain Weir! I feared it were you!” said the man who had once been his first mate, Cy Klone.
