An op ed piece on our current times and the silence of Christians |
For most of 2025, this verse has been in and out of my head. A few Sundays ago, my pastor used this as his text. Most of this day, this text has continuously played in my head. By sharing it here, I hope to move on. 2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" is from 2 Chronicles 7:14 in the King James Version of the Bible. I firmly believe this scripture was written for a time like the one we live in. It seems that throughout history, God's people have turned away from Him and taken on the worldly values that have led us to our children running loose and wild. As my mother used to say, adults have dropped the candy in the sand, and now the children are full of worms. We have gotten rid of discipline, taken God out of most everything, nothing is sacred, and anything goes. Hatred seems to permeate the air, and instead of treating our neighbors as ourselves, we seek to destroy and conquer. So long as it is politically correct (based on whose definition?), it is okay, and no one dares question it. Complete families are being destroyed. People are being treated worse than animals, and like ostriches, we are burying our heads in the sand and saying long as it's not me or even worse, glad it's not me. Remember, if it can be done to one person and nothing is done about it, it gets easier and easier to do it to others. No one is immune. We are stronger TOGETHER than we are apart. It is time for us to stand up for what is right. The time is NOW! |
