Morning Walk Morning walk, as if. My doctor, the grown-ups, so many people on TV… They all say a walk is so important for us oldies. Pffft. Do you want to know why I take this stupid walk?? To shut them all up! The last thing I want to discuss with anybody is my physical fitness and my age. I get plenty of exercise cleaning the house, working in the yard and the gardens, watching grandchildren whenever their parents want to go out together without kids tagging along… But somehow everybody still thinks a morning walk is required to keep me healthy. Me! I’m probably the healthiest person in this family! That day I went up Drew Street. I don’t usually but I had stuff I wanted to do here, that way was faster. Nobody ever bothers to ask my route anymore; just did I go. I’ve been known to walk around the outside of the house a few times, and still call it my walk. I do walk! Anyway, suddenly I saw the most beautiful bush in a yard there, just getting ready to bloom. It looked kind of like a rose bush, just on the inside of the front gate. As I stood looking at it, it really looked as if it was about to bloom right before my eyes! And then it did! First it bloomed into a rose! Then immediately started getting bigger and bigger, hovering over the gate and then quickly, it totally engulfed me! “So, what happened Gram?!” Taylor asked excitedly. “I woke up!” I said, and we laughed and laughed together. Life is good, isn’t it. |
