Ghosts have questionable judgment
April Fool ~ 300 Words

"Holly!!" yelled Dani as she stormed into the room, her face flushed and furious. Holly ignored her.

"Hey!" she yelled again. "Know what I looooove about April Fool's Day?"

"Ugh, what?" asked Holly irritably. The ghost's spoiled entitlement never ceased to amaze.

"Not a damn thing. You know this, so why in the hell did you do it?!!?"

"What are you blabbering about?"

Dani stared at the spectre with her little black dress, martini, and cartoonishly long cigarette holder. She once asked why Holly always carried that stupid cigarette and martini when she couldn't drink or smoke anymore. "Old habits die hard." she'd reply before sticking out her tongue like a six-year-old.

Being haunted by a NYC socialite wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

"I'm talking about that, you jerk," said Dani, gesturing towards the bedroom. A wedding dress lay crumpled on the floor. An unremarkable (and naked) man lay sleeping in her bed.

Holly's face morphed from boredom to recognition to panic. It wasn't the first time she'd taken possession of Dani's body for fun, nor the first "encounter" she remembered nothing about. It was, however, the first time she'd seen Dani this pissed.

"But he's riiiiiich!" she whined nasally. Holly quickly realized this wouldn't get her anywhere and began to panic as Dani strode across the room towards the closet. The portal was in there. If she couldn't say something clever before Dani reached it, she'd be in purgatory faster than you could say "Tiffany's."

Holly tried to laugh light-heartedly as she searched frantically for something else to say. All she could manage was a squeaky stutter. "April fool?"

"Nice try," said Dani. The door swung open, a blinding light flooding the room. When the light faded, it was blissfully empty.
