Growing old and growing cold
Extinguished

You approached
all hell fire and brimstone inspired
and sad and stressed and tired.
I listened with my mercy ears primed,
to defeat injustice,
wage a war on abuse
and power up
my best spark to date
Resigned to entice
and display a better way

My goals in principle
were positive
and well intentioned.
But I forgot that submission is still submission after all.
And you interpreted
my actions
as another unstable, crazy attempt to control you.
For that I am sorry .

Good intentions
still pave the road to hell.
And you haven't been you in a long time.
I could be captivated by the image of who you are.
I'm positive who I appear to be these days
would take you far.

We bear the scars of collateral damage
so vast that the toxic insanity we live in
has become our comfort zone.
And I, like you
are tired.
Too much fuel required,
to ignite a spark
or keep any fire
burning bright .
