Urania looked like a slave but she was a goddess. |
It had been a mistake for Urania to descend to the mortal realms. She had been happier among her family. Among her people. These pale mortals took Urania away in chains. She hadn't been called that before. She had had a beautiful name their tongues couldn't pronounce. So she had had to learn to be called Urania. It was hard growing up, trying not to soar. Trying to say "yes master" and "yes mistress." Learning to accept the clothes and religion of her captors. Not fight against the cruelty. Urania grew up tall, dark and beautiful. But still she couldn't spread her wings and fly. The dogs and the overseer and the clothes dampened her powers. One day a mortal who was different came and took her away from her captors. "My name is Peter. You shall be my wife," he told the goddess. He had no way of knowing what she really was. Then, on their wedding night Peter finally saw Urania's wings. He finally witnessed her golden dazzling feathers and glory. It was then he realized Urania was a muse. Peter gave Urania her freedom. Together they flew to the mountains and begat demigods. |
