Deb gets a surprise for her birthday. 300 words |
Silliness All The Time, Anytime “Don’t be silly.” When Loblolly heard that he came dancing toward the voice from the wings of the big top. “Does somebody need a silliness injection?” he asked, brandishing an extra-large syringe. “Not me, I don’t believe in silliness,” said Deb Jones the person behind the voice that had spoken. Loblolly made a big, shocked O with his mouth. “You know, lady. That condition can be terminal.” Deb laughed. “You need medicine,” he insisted, pulling out a giant bottle of colorful pills. Deb opened her mouth to disagree, and the clown popped a pill from the bottle into her mouth. “Yum, cherry cotton candy!” Deb said while chewing. “Feel better now?” Loblolly asked her. “A tickle is running up my spine, I can feel my mouth grinning,” Deb told him. “Care to join me?” the clown said sweeping her a bow. He lifted her from the stands and plopped her down in the sawdust ring. “What do I do? I’ve never been silly before! “Follow my lead, you’ll soon get the hang of it.” So, she did. She capered, pranced, whirled and danced; laughing the whole time. When they got to the other side of the ring, Loblolly led her into the wings. When they returned, she was costumed and had clown makeup. The family she had come to the circus with were astounded. The youngsters thought it was hilarious. The newly christened Debbiecakes the clown began to play to them. When Loblolly bowed and Debbiecakes curtseyed, the crowd went wild. Later after changing back to her regular clothes, Deb Jones sat down again with her family. “Happy birthday Mom,” her son whispered in her ear. “So, this was your idea, was it?” “I couldn’t resist.” “I love it! I may go to Clown College!” |
