I’ve lost it

I’ve lost my special paring knife.
It’s made a difference to my life
As I struggle to peel the smallest spud,
With its replacement I often spill blood.
My special knife was sharp, and fitted nicely in my hand,
It seemed to know without my command
Where to slice to best effect.
Did someone steal it? I have my suspect.
