A group of friends hears a story of a mysterious island, and decide to go there. |
In 1995, just two years after disaster struck at Jurassic Park, InGen was only falling deeper into debt. Lawsuits from loved ones of those who had lost their lives, hush money to those who had listened to Ian Malcolm's story. InGen was quickly losing money, and they had to abandon Isla Sorna due to a terrible storm, leaving the Dinosaurs completely isolated and alone. InGen had lost all of its assets tied to Jurassic Park. At this point in time, rumors quickly spread around Costa Rica about "Las Cinco Muertes" The Five Deaths. A series of islands that many went to and never came back. Though everyone who asked was warned, there are always those who choose to ignore the warnings. It was a dark night in the middle of the ocean, 200 miles away from Costa Rica. A small boat was carrying six individuals, who were sailing somewhere hoping for a quick thrill. "You're sure this is the island?" One of them asked. A man at the helm turned to face the five people behind him. "Yes, if the legends are true." He said. The group stood there in silence, they all felt a sudden chill as they stared at the silhouette of the island. As if their own bodies were trying to warn them of the danger. The same danger that they were warned about when their story started. Before they hired someone who would even dare to come close to this lost world. Just four hours earlier two brothers Andrew and Justin Quilts, with their friends Darren, Oliver, and Zach. All of them in their 20's wanted to embark on a thrilling adventure, but only found themselves at a bar in Costa Rica. The group was just sitting there with some food and drinks discussing their next big move. "Guys, why did we come to Costa Rica?" Andrew asked. "If I recall, we came here because we didn't know where else to go." Darren replied, stroking his beard. Andrew leaned back in his chair, taking off his hat and adjusting his Hawaiian shirt. "Guys c'mon, we couldn't have done any research on Costa Rica? There's not even an active volcano or anything exciting." Andrew said. "You want danger?" Zach asked. "Maybe, something to put my stomach up to my chest you know." "Andrew's right." His brother Justin said. "A little excitement before break ends." Andrew looked to his right and saw his brother who could've been his twin, same tanned skin, curly hair, and nose. But Justin had a mustache that made him stand out from Andrew. "See, someone agrees with me." Darren leans into the table, taking a sip and sitting his drink down. "I do have to admit, we don't have much time left. School will open up again soon, and it feels like we haven't done much yet." Darren said. "With that said, we could get someone to sail us nearby. Maybe there's an adventure to be had at sea." Zach said, waving his hand around like waves in the ocean. The group chuckled a little bit. "Oliver, that ain't a bad idea. Somewhere that doesn't have a lot of people." Andrew said. "Whatever you do, don't go near Las Cinco Muertes." Someone close by said. The five men looked over to a man sitting at the bar, an old man with a long jagged scar just underneath his eye that ran along his cheek. Curious Andrew decided to try and scope for information, it helped him to know some Spanish. "The Five Deaths?" Andrew asked. "Don't listen to him." The bartender said, as he cleaned off a drinking glass. "The man drinks too much, claims he made a landfall on some island, what was it 200 miles west of Costa Rica?" "It's the truth, lots of folk have heard of those who went to that same island and never returned." The old man said. Justin had a big smirk on his face, which showed his ignorance. "Oh, sure. Is this island haunted?" Justin mocked. "Make fun of me all you'd like, I've sailed these waters all my life. I've dealt with sharks, storms and a whale capsizing my ship. But that island-" The man stood up walking by their table. "-it's the reason I drink, because the nightmares just won't stop." The man walks out of the bar. After he left it felt like the air was thick, and it took a second before any of them had spoken. "Dude we should totally go there." Andrew said. "Really?" Darren asked. "It's one hundred percent bullshit, but that story will have chills running down our spines when we camp there." Andrew said. "Well who the hell would take us?" Zach asked. "I'm sure there's one guy on the dock who could use the cash." Justin said, a grin on his face waving his wallet around. At that moment it was decided, the five friends would venture to this mysterious island. The group left their tips on the table and walked out the door of the bar. It was just starting to get dark but they were determined to find someone at the dock who wouldn't mind a trip this late. As they approached the dock they saw many small boats, but it seemed no one was there, all except one man who was gathering his fishing nets. The man was in his forties, a wild beard, and dirt covered his tanned face. The group slowly approached him as the creaking of the dock alerted him of their presence. The man threw the nets into the back of his boat, and turned to face the people approaching. "Hey there." The man said. "You're not from around here." "We were wondering if you could take us about two hundred miles west. There's apparently an island out there." Andrew said. "Las Cinco Muertes?" He asked. "How'd you know?" Justin asked. "There's been all sorts of talk about those islands. Why go there this late?" "Just feeling kind of adventurous." Andrew replied. "Look, it's been a long day. I could take you in the morning." Justin pulled out his wallet and took out a few hundred bucks. He counted it to $390. "We don't have much time before we're headed home. Just for the night." Justin said. The fisher hadn't caught much that day, and he needed to pay his rent soon. This money these kids were willing to give him would pay the loose ends and put food on the table. He'd heard the rumors, but figured they're all superstition anyway, still he knew a few people that decided to go and never returned. He was worried, it'd be tough this season and he already was having to cut back on some of the repairs on his boat. Taking this job meant his next paycheck could make those repairs. "Captain Carlos at your service." The five friends got excited, all except Darren who seemed a little worried. Carlos signaled them to his boat, it was a small but serviceable boat for its one man crew. Slightly worn out on the wood, but it'll hold for this trip. The five young men walked towards the small boat, the Captain following behind them. Andrew was the first onboard, it was definitely not as luxurious as the boats his family owned. Nothing like the yacht his father would travel on, but Andrew didn't judge, he knew the boat and the man who captained it were hardworking. Justin, Darren, Zach, and the really silent Oliver were close behind him as they all looked at their ride. Justin got close to a crane on the boat which held up the nets for fishing, he was about to mess with it before- "Hey, no touching the fishing nets." Carlos shouted. Justin quickly pulled his hand away. "Sorry man, I didn't mean to upset you." "It's alright, it needs a delicate touch before I can repair it." Carlos said in a more calm tone. The friends decided to stay towards the back of the boat, while Carlos was inside the small cockpit. "Alright boys, here in a few minutes you'll be headed to Las Cinco Muertes. I have never ventured that far, but what the hell, money is money." Carlos said. The five sat down waiting in anticipation as Carlos tinkered with some stuff ahead of them. Darren, a little scared of the trip, leans towards the group. "Guys, I really don't like this." He said. "Darren, where is your sense of adventure?" Andrew asked. "There's no real danger on those islands, just something to scare tourists." Andrew grabbed onto Darren's shoulder. "Trust me dude, it's all gonna be ok. We stay the night, and come back in the morning." Suddenly the boat started to rumble, and the ugly sound of the engine turned on. "Alright gentlemen, let's go." A few hours later, they're almost at the island. Carlos peaks his head out of the cockpit. "If I remember correctly this is one of the five deaths, this island is Isla Sorna." Carlos said. They were so close to Isla Sorna, but the name itself seemed to give Darren chills as he started to shiver. Oliver noticed this and slowly scooted towards him. "Hey Darren, it'll be ok. Ain't nothing here except us." Oliver said. "What about wild animals?" Darren whimpered. "It'll be ok, ain't nothing we wouldn't have to deal with on any other camping trip." Darren slowly calmed down, his breathing getting more relaxed as a sudden jolt brought his fear back. "Welcome to Isla Sorna." Carlos said. It was dark, with nothing but moonlight and the boat to brighten the area. Even then the Jungle ahead was thick with foliage, to the point the light wasn't penetrating. "I've got chills all over my body." Andrew said with excitement. As he jumped with anticipation off the boat onto the beach, with Justin following closely behind. "Guys, we shouldn't go into the jungle, we could camp on the beach." Darren said. "Dude we did not come all this way to sleep on sand, c'mon we're already here." Justin said. Zach jumps off the boat next, Oliver holds out his hand towards Darren. Darren grabs a hold of Oliver's hand and they get him to stand up. Oliver goes first jumping off, waiting for Darren who slowly climbs out of the boat. "A dark jungle, nothing could go wrong right?" Darren asks. "It's alright to feel scared, I felt that same way on my first camping trip. Trust me, everything will be fine." Oliver said calmly. As best as he could Oliver had at least gotten Darren to stop breathing so heavily. The two walked side by side as the others walked ahead of them slowly entering the jungle. "I'll be right here waiting boys." Carlos said. He watched as the young men disappeared into the jungle, he kneeled down just beneath the helm and found a bottle of whiskey. He took the cap off and started to drink as he sat down against the cockpit doorway and looked into the sky. "It's a rather beautiful night." Carlos said to himself. Thump! Carlos turned towards the jungle, but saw nothing. However he wondered what that noise was. It sounded large, maybe a tree fell over somewhere nearby. Carlos shrugged it off and turned to face the sky, it really was beautiful. You could really see all the stars and the full moon above. Carlos took another sip of his drink, and continued to look into the night sky, but noticed the strange smell of something rotten. In the jungle the young men walked through the foliage. "We just need to find a small clearing, and we can set up a campfire." Andrew said. "What about after that?" Justin asked. "Anything goes, right now pranks and spooky stories." Andrew said. "There ain't no way I gave someone three hundred dollars for us to tell campfire stories." Justin said aggressively. "Calm down bro. I figured we could hike around a bit. See what we could find, there's got to be something here, otherwise where does all that superstition come from?" In the back of the group were Darren and Oliver. Oliver constantly checking up on Darren who was constantly looking around. Observing every inch of the jungle, as if he was watching out for something. "Darren, have you ever gone camping?" Oliver asked. "Once, but it wasn't far from a park." Darren said. "I've gone camping many times. There was this one time a bear got into our cooler, he sniffed out our burgers-" "Oliver." Darren interrupted. "Yeah." "It's not helping, I know you're trying but I just don't like this. Something doesn't feel right." Darren said. Oliver patted him on the back. "Why did you come?" Oliver asked. "I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. Maybe if I did, I could finally ask a girl out on a date." Darren said as he walked forward a bit. "That's definitely good motivation." Oliver said as he rushed to catch up with Darren. The group continued through the jungle, suddenly small chirping caught the attention of Zach. "What was that?" He asked. "Just a bird dude." Andrew said. They all continue to walk until they find a small open area surrounded by the jungle. "This looks perfect guys. Let's all split up and get some firewood." Justin said. Andrew and Justin went in the same direction, Zach decided to head back the way they came. He wasn't sure if it was interest in seeing the bird that made those particular chirps, or if maybe it was just the trusted path. Either way he went completely on his own as Oliver and Darren sat down at the site and started to get some rocks to put around the campfire. "Shouldn't you go with Zach?" Darren asked. "He'll be fine. Zach has gone camping with me a few times. He knows what to look for." Oliver said. In the dark and dense jungle Zach was walking around where he heard the sound. His father loved birds, and he would often go with him on birdwatching trips. Those chirps from earlier did sound like a bird, but it was different in some way. Zach just couldn't put his finger on it but maybe it was a new type of bird. It seemed like twenty minutes went by and he didn't hear the sound again. So he called it quits, no need to waste everyone's time, Andrew was right and Zach was just becoming delusional. So Zach decided to start getting some branches that could act as firewood. That's when he heard the sound again, this time it was very close. Zach turned to the direction the noise came from and saw nothing. Holding the branches in his hand he quickly started walking the direction of their camp, until one of the bushes next to him started rustling. Zach backed away slowly, waiting for some kind of bird to fly out. Instead hopped out a small green lizard that walked on its two back legs. "What the hell kind of lizard are you?" Zach asked. The creature didn't seem threatened, it was curious. Zach had never seen such an animal, but knew its behavior meant it hadn't met humans yet. Zach kneeled over to get a better look at the animal and noticed its feet had three toes. Unlike other lizards it's bipedal walk definitely stood out, it just wasn't like other lizards. Yet it chirped almost like a bird. Zach looked at this animal and easily drew a comparison to a dinosaur, and he wasn't wrong. He just didn't know this one's name was Compsognathus. A small dinosaur that tended to act like a scavenger feasting on already deceased creatures or rodents. Zach thought that it was a stupid assumption to think this creature could very well be a dinosaur. The Compsognathus was bobbing its head almost like a chicken, giving out small bird-like chirps. He gave out a small chuckle and suddenly the Compsognathus ran back into the jungle. "What a weird little lizard." Zach said. That's when he heard a different animal call. Another type of chirping but this time, it sounded somewhat bigger. When Zach turned to the direction of the animal call he saw white eyes staring back at him from the dark jungle. These ones were definitely from a much bigger animal, probably around his own height or maybe just a bit smaller. Zach started to slowly back away when the eyes disappeared. Zach tossed the branches and started to run back towards the camp, and he could hear something in the bushes next to him, almost like it was hopping around. When Zach didn't hear anything else he stopped to catch his breath. He leaned on a tree, and took a look at his surroundings thinking something wasn't right. He was lost. "Dammit, I took a straight path, how the hell am I lost?" He thought he took a straight path, but in reality he just went opposite of where those eyes were staring at him. Zach started to panic, he was looking around trying to get his bearings. Maybe the camp was nearby. He looked, and listened but didn't see his friends or hear them talking. He definitely wasn't near camp, that got Zach's heart racing. He thought he should call out to them but wasn't sure that would attract unwanted attention from whatever scared him. As Zach was continuing to plan his next move, he heard the chirping again. This time it sounded like it was from right behind him. Zach slowly turned in the hopes he was just paranoid, but what stood behind him was a 4 foot tall animal. Crests on his head and a similar stature to the creature he saw earlier. There was no mistaking it, these were actual dinosaurs. He just didn't know this one's name was Dilophosaurus. As Zach slowly tried to back away the creature started to make a rattling noise, and large frills shot out of its neck shaking. Then a small hiss before something black shot out at his face. He couldn't see, and he felt like he was starting to lose his motor functions. He felt his body fall to the floor, and all he could feel next, were teeth taking bites out of him. He tried to move, to get up and run, but his fate was sealed. Zach was unable to do anything, as this dinosaur was making him it's next meal. Elsewhere in the jungle Justin and Andrew were carrying the branches they found for the campfire. "Please tell me have you more than campfire stories?" Justin asked. "Dude just relax, the night is still very young." "And I'm out three hundred dollars." Andrew turned to face Justin, and he could tell his brother was frustrated. Justin had this straight face with eyes that could've burnt the wood in their hands. It was clear Justin felt this trip had gone nowhere, and may not go to the lengths that Andrew had promised everyone. "Ok, look yeah I don't have a plan ok." Andrew said. Justin drops his wood and throws his hands in frustration. "I can't believe you Andrew." Justin shouted. "What do you want me to say Justin? That we're gonna go explore this whole island? With no one but a stranger from Costa Rica knowing our whereabouts?" Andrew asked. "I don't know, but I was hoping for that adventure you were talking about." "Well look, I'm a simple man. I figured the thrill of simply being here would be enough." Justin huffed out some frustration and kicked a nearby rock. It rolled towards a bush, and suddenly something large from behind the push raised it's head. Justin noticed it's small head with a beak like mouth, they couldn't see the rest of the body but it stared at them. "Dude, that looks like a dinosaur." Andrew said. "Ain't no way that thing is a dinosaur." Justin replied. But sure enough the creature started moving, which allowed them to see the large plates on its back, spikes on its tail, and the moonlight showed its green color. "Stegosaurus, but how?" Justin asked. "Well we wanted an adventure, but this isn't what I expected." Andrew said. Suddenly Justin's heart sank, he thought back to the sailor from the bar. His warning about this island, does that mean what he thinks it means. "Andrew, we have to get back to the camp now." Justin said. At the camp Oliver and Darren had made a decently sized ring with some rocks. "That should be big enough for a camp fire." Oliver said. Bushes next to them shuffle, "Darren behind me." Oliver whispered. Darren shuffled behind Oliver, who stood there possibly thinking a bear was about to emerge. Bursting from the bush was Justin with Andrew close behind. "Guys we need to get back to the boat." Justin said. Oliver and Darren stared in confusion. "What's going on?" "Look you're not gonna believe us, but we're in danger we need to go now." Justin said. "Whoa, slow down. We're all friends here and sometimes we do pull pranks, but if something has you like this I find it hard to imagine I won't believe you." Oliver said. It was silent for a moment, Justin was hesitant. They're all trusted friends but how would they believe them when they say they saw a dinosaur. Justin's heart was beating so hard, he felt it pounded outside his chest. Finally Justin picked his head up and spoke. "Look, there's dinosaurs on this island. We saw a Stegosaurus, and we think they're could be carnivores." Justin said. Oliver and Darren looked stunned. "You're joking right?" Darren asked. "I told you, you wouldn't believe me." Justin sighed. "Ok alright, maybe this trip was a bad idea, let's just go back to the boat-" Oliver said before he was interrupted by Darren. "Wait, where's Zack?" Darren asked. The four looked around and didn't see Zach anywhere. "I saw him go back the way we came for wood." Oliver said. "Ok maybe we'll find him on the way." Andrew said. The four quickly rushed towards the way they came in. It'd only be two hours most and they were done with their trip, scared by what Justin and Andrew saw. Going through the lush jungle they had passed, they didn't see Zach. Darren was growing worried, scared that something may have happened to him, how right he was would only frighten him more if he had ever found out. "Look." Andrew said. Andrew was pointing at the ground, with a bunch of scattered branches. "Zach must've gotten these for the campfire." Oliver said. "Maybe he ran to the boat." Darren said. "I agree, he might've seen something. Let's go." Oliver said. Darren and Andrew went ahead but Oliver stopped Justin. "Look at your feet." Oliver said. Justin looked down and noticed a footprint with three toes. It looked around the size of Justin's foot. "You saw a Stegosaurus, I don't think Zach got that same luxury." Oliver said. "Do you think he ran back to the boat?" Justin asked. "No, I know Zach he would've warned us about something out here." "So where is he?" "They probably got him." Justin had chills down his spine. "Shit." He said. "Listen don't tell Darren, or Andrew until we get out of here got it?" Justin nods and the two catch up to Darren and Andrew. The group was getting close to the beach when they realized how quiet it was. As they clear the jungle and enter the sandy beach they notice the boat isn't how they left it. The roof to the cockpit looked like it was torn off, the boat itself was on it's side and blood was splattered all over it. Darren fell to his knees and started to curl up and cry. "Why has god forsaken us now?" Darren cried. "It's gonna be ok Darren, we'll figure out something." Oliver said. Andrew started to get frustrated. "Stop crying Darren, no one made you come." "Andrew what the hell is the matter with you?" Justin screamed. "We can just push the boat, and we can go home." Oliver kneeled down and started to pat Darren on his back. As he leaned in to check on Darren further Oliver smelt something rotten. A smell of something dead, and it was strong, that's when Oliver noticed a large footprint which was practically a puddle. Birdlike except it was massive, had to be around thirty inches. The water inside was vibrating. "I don't like how big that footprint is." Justin said. Oliver looked up and saw it, a Tyrannosaurus walking the beach. It let out a small snarl. "Believe me now?" Justin asked as they all watched this large dinosaur walk towards the boat. The T. Rex approached the boat, the smell emitting off it was definitely one of decay. The T. Rex nudged the boat right side up. "Oh god, we're gonna d-" Darren was interrupted by Oliver who covered his mouth close. It was too late as the large bipedal dinosaur looked and saw Andrew fall on his back and start crawling back. Andrew quickly stood up and ran, Justin turned and watched. "Andrew, where the hell are you going?" Justin yelled. The T. Rex let out a deafening roar. Oliver covered his ears as Justin fell off his feet. Darren was screaming, fearing for his very life. The T. Rex started moving in a rather quick pace, Oliver started to pull Darren to his feet as Justin was quick to jump up. "Run!" Oliver shouted. The three turned to the jungle and started running. The loud stomps somewhere close behind. They just kept running through the jungle, the sound of trees swaying and branches snapping was only getting closer. Oliver turned to see the large T. Rex was right behind Darren, Darren's face was filled with terror as he could feel it's breath on his neck. Oliver went into action and pushed Darren out of the way, the T. Rex threw Oliver into a nearby tree where his arm broke on a branch and he crashed into the ground. Justin kept running, the T. Rex seemed to focus on him as Justin tripped on a branch. "Oh shit." Justin squealed. Justin was trying to get on his feet but was slipping in the mud. The T. Rex had stopped dead in its tracks and watched Justin struggle. Justin stopped when the Rex huffed out its nose and hot air blew onto his back. "No, no, no-" Justin screamed as the T. Rex bit onto Justin and started swinging his body around until it became lifeless. Oliver watched in horror as he turned to see Darren hiding behind a tree. "Darren." Oliver whispered. "What do we do?" Darren whispered. Oliver slowly crawled towards Darren as the two hid behind the tree. "We need to quietly get out of here." The T. Rex took its new meal on the go, and stomped off into the jungle. "Good idea, but where? we don't exactly have a way out of here." Darren said. Oliver slowly stood up, his arm broken. It took him a second to fully get on his feet. "Ok, if rumors are true a lot of people have come here and never returned. If that's true there has to be some leftover boat or something." The two started slowly walking through the jungle. "I hope you're right Oliver." Darren said. Andrew wasn't sure how long he ran for. It was still dark, and he couldn't make out anything in the jungle. Maybe he lost the T. Rex, but his friends were probably dead. His head was spinning, his lungs burned, he was exhausted from all the running. Finally he stopped and leaned against what he thought was a big rock. His body slid down the rock, his breathing was heavy and sweat was glistening off his skin in the moonlight. He felt ashamed, he thought about his brother Justin, he just left him there on the beach. Who knows if he was still alive? Andrew was lost in his thoughts when he turned to see he wasn't leaning on a rock, but some concrete wall. "A building?" Andrew said to himself. He slowly stood up, light headed and already sore from all the running. As Andrew looked around the building and saw a door with a sign above. "Bunker", Andrew walked towards the door and turned the handle to open it, he slowly cracked the door but didn't see anything. As he entered he saw a light switch and he flipped it. To his surprise the lights worked, but only flickered in and out continuously. "I'm not sure how long this has been here but I'm surprised that it worked." Andrew once again spoke to himself. Hoping that it'd help to ease the isolation he felt. He saw furniture all scattered as well as some paperwork. A computer and phone were at the other side of the room on a desk. Andrew couldn't run anymore but he walked as fast as he could. As he got close he started to limp. "Jesus am I out of shape or something?" Andrew leaned on the table and picked up the phone, Unfortunately the flickering lights were the best luck he had so far. The phone was out, there was no way to call for help. The computer on the other hand the screen was on, with a warning popup that says "Evacuate". Andrew decided to pick up a knocked over chair, and sit down. Grabbing the mouse he moved the cursor on the screen through different menus, the screen glowing white. He eventually found a menu, with two different options: lockdown and distress beacon. Andrew quickly clicked on the distress beacon option, but a pop up appeared on the screen. "Unable to communicate with InGen Satellite". Andrew slammed his fist on the table and started to rub his face anxiously. He was tired, scared to death, and had regrets of bringing his brother and friends somewhere they clearly shouldn't have gone. Andrew thought the worst, they were all dead because he wanted a thrill. He never had a plan, he just jumped at the opportunity. His brother called him out on it, but he wasn't there to tell him I told you so. Andrew started to cry. "It's all my fault, that thing probably got him and the others too. All I did was run." Andrew looked up at the screen and saw a security camera section. He clicked and saw various cameras around the island. Over half were just static, most likely damaged from the dinosaurs Andrew thought. But one caught his attention. Two people were walking along some path towards a building. It was Oliver and Darren, Oliver looked like he was hurt and Darren was shivering. "Thank god." Andrew said. He saw a map option and it showed their location wasn't far from his. "I'm coming." Andrew jumped and ran out the bunker. "I wish I had a flashlight, I can't see a damn thing." Andrew started sprinting in the direction of his friends. The jungle was still dark, like it was a vacuum of darkness. As he ran he began feeling light headed again, as he slowed down he heard something crack beneath his feet. He looked down to see he had stepped on something white, and when he raised his foot he immediately knew it was an egg. "Crap, I hope mom's not nearby." A huff from nearby immediately silenced him. He turned just slightly to his right to see a dome shaped head on a bipedal creature. A Pachycephalosaurus, but Andrew wasn't well versed as his brother was. "Nice dino, it was an accident." Andrew said, his hands raised to the dinosaur. From behind he felt the impact of what felt like a battering ram. He was tossed into the air into a nearby tree, his back in immense pain. He tried to slowly get up when he saw there were three of them now. They surrounded him as he could barely move from the pain. He tried to get out of the way as the one in front of him started to charge, but his chest was hit from the domed head. He fell to his knees and coughed into his hand, he could taste the blood as it came out of his mouth. He couldn't move, he could feel his ribcage was broken, pieces of bone stabbing his insides. The one on his right charged, he was still kneeled down. He tried so desperately to move but only succeeded in putting his head directly in front of the dinosaur. At that moment his body went limp and fell to the ground. One of the three Pachycephalosaurus charged, as if to check if he was still alive. When it was satisfied they all went to check on the nest, and saw the broken egg amongst all the others that were still perfectly fine. Oliver and Darren are near a building. "Wait Oliver stop." Darren said. Oliver turned to look at Darren. "What Darren?" "What about Zach, or Andrew?" Oliver sighed. "Darren, they're more than likely dead." he said bluntly. "Shouldn't we look?" "Where would we start? We're on some random island we know very little about. It would take days to find them if they were alive. " Darren looked down in disappointment, Oliver walked over and put his non broken arm on his shoulder. "Look, it's just us. Regardless of their fate, we'd still have to find a way off this island." "I know." Oliver turned back around and the two walked into the building, it was large like a warehouse. As the two walked in behind them the bushes rustled and a head appeared behind it. Velociraptor, and it wasn't alone as two more heads appeared on opposite sides of it watching as Oliver and Darren walked into the warehouse. The two were completely unaware of the threat that was stalking them. The Velociraptors snarled quietly and all of which went into separate directions. They were walking in the warehouse, what was still there were empty cages, forklifts, and lights that were knocked over or completely shattered. Oliver looked to see the name InGen plastered all over the equipment. "What's InGen?" Darren asked. "It's a genetics company. I guess they cracked the code, and brought these creatures back to life." Oliver said. The two continued walking as outside the warehouse window, Darren saw one of the Velociraptors running by. "Oliver!?" Darren whimpered. "What?" "I don't think we're alone." Oliver stood still for a brief moment and looked around. He noticed something ahead of them beyond an open door, watching them was an eye. His eyes adjusted and he saw some of the body, somewhere around their height. "Darren, do you know how to operate a forklift?" Oliver asked. "Somewhat I guess, my dad had this one job-" "Great, get that one started. If it works I'll hang on as you drive us out of here." Oliver interrupted. Darren hopped on to a nearby forklift, the engine lit up. "Yes, the tank still has some fuel." Darren said. Before Oliver could say anything he saw two of the Velociraptors charging from opposite sides of the warehouse. He quickly grabbed a shovel that laid on the ground nearby and swung it towards one, knocking it on the ground. The raptor struggled on the ground for a bit as the other one continued its charge towards Oliver. Darren raises the forks on his forklift and just as the Raptor is about to reach Oliver, Darren hits the gas and rams right into the Velociraptor which nearly misses the fork. Darren quickly backs up and tries to reach Oliver as a Velociraptor jumps on the top of the forklift. "Oh shit, Oliver!" The forklift passes by Oliver with the Velociraptor on top, trying to reach Darren. "Hang on Darren, I'm coming." Oliver turns to see that the Velociraptor is back on its feet, as another raptor slightly different with quills along its neck comes to its aid. Oliver slowly backs away, trying to gain some sort of advantage but as he does the two raptors go to separate sides of him waiting to strike. Darren, moving backwards on the forklift at high speeds, tries to knock off his attacker by making sharp turns. Somehow the raptor above him manages to stay on. That's when Darren decides to speed up and abruptly stop, yanking the raptor off the forklift. Darren changes it to forward and stomps on the pedal. The forklift jolts forward, getting far away from the raptor that quickly got on its feet. Oliver standing his ground has the two raptors on opposite sides. Nowhere to run and no tactical advantage he's completely out of options. Until he sees Darren speeding in his direction. Oliver runs towards Darren and jumps on the side of the forklift. The two raptors in pursuit try to jump for him, but Darren manages to make quick turns to avoid their attempts. "Nice job Darren. I knew you could do it." Oliver said. Darren smiled "I didn't think we were gonna get out of that." As the two exited the large doorway a raptor from outside jumped onto Oliver, knocking him off. The raptor and Oliver rolled on the ground as Darren stopped the forklift in its tracks. Oliver got onto his feet but saw he was surrounded as the other Velociraptors from inside had surrounded him. He turned to see Darren on the verge of tears watching the horrors unfold. "Darren, be brave for me." The Raptors lunged in with their new meal. One made an incision with its sickle claw that spilled Oliver's intestines out. They started to eat him alive, with Oliver watching himself slowly die. Darren started the forklift up and drove off as fast as he could. As Darren continued to drive, the images of Oliver being eaten alive were like a movie to him. His insides the meal of once extinct animals, his other friends most likely meeting similar fates. Darren only cried for most of the trip, passing by the jungle. It was hours until finally the forklift had finally run out of fuel. "No, please no." Darren said. Darren hopped out and noticed the sun was finally coming out. It was still dark, but he could make out things a bit better. He looked nearby and saw a long neck protruding out of the jungle. Brachiosaurus, and Darren just sat next to his forklift watching the magnificent sight. "Well, at least there's some beauty in all this." Darren said. All he could do was sob as he watched the Brachiosaurus eating from the trees in front of him. He looked around, no landmarks, nothing to guide his way but a path with overgrown jungle. Darren stood up and he saw small dinosaurs run past him, Darren thought they looked like Triceratops. They were actually Microceratus, really small dinosaurs, beak-like mouths, a head very similar to Triceratops minus the horns of course. Darren just decided to head forward, hoping the path leads somewhere that had something he could use. Minutes became hours, as he continued walking, the sun beaming down on the jungle around him. Beams of sunlight coming down through the leaves. He saw a few dinosaurs as he walked, most seemingly harmless. By the time he reached another building, the sun was just beginning to set. The building itself looked like some kind of garage, or at least some kind of maintenance for vehicles. He walked inside, he saw a car, some sort of Jeep sitting there. "Please work." Darren stepped into the Jeep and looked around for keys. "Dammit, I don't know how to hot wire." Darren looked furiously around the Jeep to no avail. He stepped out and looked around the garage, hoping to see some sort of key rack. He found it, but unfortunately there were no keys sitting on it. "It's hopeless, I don't know where else to look." Darren sat there crying more. Darren knew he wasn't gonna survive. He hadn't had any food, or water, or any sleep. He was alone, and he was never any kind of boy scout. Never liked outdoors let alone stood outside to take in sunlight or fresh air. He stayed in doors, and only did stuff when he was around friends. That thought only made Darren cry more, his cries became very loud. When he finally quieted down his vision was blurry, so he wiped his eyes. When he could see again, he saw them watching him in the distance. He didn't think they were the same ones from the warehouse, but they were definitely of the same species. The Velociraptors stood there stalking him from the tree line, watching him through the open garage door. Darren, quickly ran up a set of stairs and locked the door behind him. He looked around the room and saw some furniture, a bookshelf and a desk. He quickly moved them in front of the door, blocking their only entry, but also his only exit. He stood there, and he could hear their calls. Some were just right outside the door, but they couldn't open it so he was safe. The only problem was that this safe space would be his grave. While none of the dinosaurs could reach him, he decided to sit there. No food or water, dying from dehydration in a few days time. All of those who came on this trip, including the Captain who's fate was sealed by the T. Rex had died. A small investigation had begun just a week later, from one of the families of those who went missing. Unfortunately it was all a dead end, as no one except those who went knew they went to Las Cinco Muertes. No one would ever truly know what happened to them, not loved ones, not even InGen. Their story on Isla Sorna would forever be lost to time. The End. |
