It's one writing I base on death and our mortality and grief
Josh was a bright-eyed 12-year-old with a love for exploring the beautiful forest around his home. One particularly lovely day, as he strolled along the winding paths, he noticed something intriguing—a piece of frayed rope hanging from a tree. It looked like it had weathered quite a bit, piquing his curiosity. With a sense of adventure bubbling inside him, he tugged at the rope to see what might happen.

As he continued his walk, he was fascinated to discover that the rope was draped from every tree he passed, though they all varied just enough to be interesting. "I wonder what it means?" he thought, but with a shrug, he decided not to dwell on it—the forest was full of wonders waiting to be uncovered!

Venturing onto a narrow path he hadn’t explored before, Josh felt a thrill of excitement. The soft, dappled light filtered through the leaves, creating an enchanting atmosphere. As he skipped along, he started to hear the delightful sounds of nature—the wind rustling the leaves, which almost sounded like gentle whispers sharing secrets.

Then, his gaze settled on a magnificent oak tree that seemed to have stood the test of time, its sturdy branches reaching high into the sky. It was breathtaking. But as he looked closer, he noticed a strange smell wafting through the air. Being the curious soul he was, he followed the scent until he discovered something unexpected—what he first thought was an animal turned out to be a man, lying there in a state of decay.

Josh’s heart sank. He had heard whispers about unsettling events happening in his community, and it all felt too real now. Shocked and sorrowful, he knew he had to do something for this stranger. He took a deep breath and gently lifted the man, finding a serene spot to lay him to rest.

After digging a small hole with great care, he placed the man inside, filling it softly, bit by bit, as his respect deepened with each scoop of dirt. Then an idea sparked in his mind—he wanted to honor him properly! He dashed over to the nearby meadow, gathering the brightest wildflowers he could find, their vibrant colors a contrast to the somber task at hand.

Upon returning, he tenderly spread the flowers over the grave, adding a small note that simply said "Unknown." Bowing his head in a moment of reflection, Josh felt a profound connection to the man beneath the earth. It struck him how, even in death, humans carry a spirit of life that lingers on. The way we interact with the memories of those we've lost shows our deep-rooted connection to them.

Have you ever noticed how we often speak of our loved ones in the present tense, as if they’re still with us? It’s a beautiful part of the human experience, a way to keep their essence alive in our hearts. Every time you visit a cemetery or a spot where someone you cared for rests, remember to honor and respect not just them but all beings who once shared our world. We should celebrate life in all its forms, recognizing that each creature deserves our respect, both in life and in death.

Isn't it amazing how love and memory can transcend even the finality of life? Let’s keep spreading kindness and understanding, cherishing the connections we have with one another, and remembering to honor those who have touched our lives.
