The Midnight Stroll : Chapter 01

Chapter : 1

As you walk on the bridge at midnight, the eerie silence makes your hair stand. Yet I have been taking midnight stroll since last week. A heartbreak and loneliness surely do a number on one's mind.
Yesterday's rain have washed the bridge for the third time in this week. And its only the fourth day of the week. Ah the cold breeze, even slight carelessness will lead to company with Mr. cold.
A stub in my toe brings my awareness back to my surrounding. Lying on my foot is a copper key. Either it has halo or I am high in sorrow. It has an unusual pull toward to it. As I hold the palm sized dull bronze key in my hand, its cold metallic touch sends a shiver down my spine. Must be cold wind!!
After that brief moment of peace all hell went loose. All of a sudden, my mind was overloaded with the location of every door in an area of five square kilometers in my vicinity. Dogshit.
I have finally gone senile. Yet I had an inkling that if I gave a mental push to any door, I could walk right out of that at the dime of a second. Despite the fear of unknown I succumbed to my curiosity. Next thing I knew, I was standing inside my bedroom. Holy shit. Supernatural powers do exist.
Before the excitement of my new powers could get to my head, I was scared to death by mere screech of a rat. Its eyes fixated on mine. The menacing look made the air heavy around me. Was it a beast?
My back was drenched in cold sweat, my hands were shivering. With a sudden clanking sound, the air felt no more heavy. And the rat ran past me , its eyes no more menacing. Leaving me alone in the room with the ever-present pull toward that cursed key lying on the floor.
