Island of the dead dolls
Isla de la munecas

The history of the island began in February, of 1521, when the Spanish Aztec War began and lasted for 93 days. Then in July of 1936 was when the Spanish revolution happened where multiple people were killed or they had drowned in the canal nearby.

The Island finally got its name in 1950 from a man named don julian santana herrera.
He found a girl drowned in the canal around the island, and very little time later he found a doll and had assumed that it was the girls and this is when things began to get creepy. Since he thought the doll was the girls he took the doll and hung it on a tree at the Island to make her happy and appease her. After this action he wanted to make sure she was the happiest and then for the next 50 years after that he had collected and gathered as many dolls as he could and hung the dolls on trees. Wherever he could get his hands on a doll he would collect them, he would sometimes even dig in the garbage. Sometimes he wouldn't even have a full doll, sometimes he might have just found the pieces and still hung them on the tree’s. One day while he was looking for dolls to hang on the Island he found a doll and loved the doll so much he named the doll Augustina which means the great one or also means majestic in its original form and is currently the only doll that has a name on the island.

Finally back in 2001 Julian died and people say that there are legends of how he died and they don't seem coincidental. Some say he either drowned from falling into the canal because one day he was fishing with his older niece and his niece had said that Julian told him that the mermaids were calling him and thought they went for a swim and did not survive. Or they also say he had a heart attack while being on a boat and while having it he fell off the boat and didn't get up in time. But something else they also say is that they think he died in the same area as the girl he said had drowned by and many people think there is no coincidence in that and the girl spirit had something to do with it.

To this day people still place dolls on the island as a tribute to the girl spirit and julian, but when people do get on the island they still get a sort of uneasy feeling when on the island. Multiple mediums have been on this island and mostly all of them have said that there is more to this island then just jillian and the girl spirit but they don't know what that more is YET, Multiple people say that the island iis cursed just from all the trauma that has happened on that small of land. To this day there are 4,000 dolls on the island and still counting and on top of all the fame it has already it also holds the Guiness world record for the “world's largest haunted doll collection” in the world.

So much trauma has happened on this small piece of land and still nobody really knows the full story on Julian's death but this is definitely a story not forgotten and most likely won't be forgotten for another many years more.
