Nonfiction Climate Change: Temperature
A layperson's guide to a very scary, potentially disastrous topic, THE HEAT WILL KILL YOU is commentator Jeff Goodell's research into the intensifying heat levels of Planet Earth. It vividly (and painfully) details the cost in terms of human life, crops and vegetation, trees, and animal life that are consequences of ever-increasing temperatures. It's not just Phoenix experiencing unbearable record highs anymore! Punishingly high heat indexes occur in locales and regions previously considered moderate or temperate, such as the U.S.'s Pacific Northwest. Heat levels are rising everywhere. As with his nonfiction work THE WATER WILL RISE, THE HEAT WILL KILL YOU FIRST should be an eye-opening wake-up call to civilians, scientists, politicians, corporations, and governments, of the dangers of the current headlong race to potential ultimate destruction of life on this planet, via the outcomes of inevitable climate change.

Although the nature of this topic is frightening, both for the present and future, and the anecdotes of lives lost and of destruction of animal and plant life saddening, I think learning the status of this scary trend is both enlightening and essential, and I appreciate author Jeff Goodell's finely-detailed research, efforts, and ability to make the Science (and the facts) comprehensible to non-scientists.
