Resolving the arguments about "Free Will"
Free Will versus determinism

A flawed concept of free will partly fuels this age-old argument.

Someone imagines that one can freely make a choice. Should I have the blue sweater or the red sweater?

The choice is random if there is no purpose behind it. What value do we place on choosing randomly? Do you have a sense of choice when you make such trivial choices?

We choose desirable consequences. We make our choices in the context of the real world. We choose to avoid undesirable consequences.

The proper definition of free will is the ability to evaluate the consequences of our choices and to choose our present actions according to the future we desire.

Our idealized future determines our choices.
