Such is Life

Not the best driver, me. I can maneuver the car fine, but getting lost is almost a talent of mine. Like those people who can make noises snapping their toes. It’s fun when you’re a kid, but as a grown up, just embarrassing (according to my sister…)

Out on the road, going somewhere I’ve been many times. I don’t need a sign to find the right road, I know how to get there, I have been there many times. My mother discovered the place when we were kids. It was an out of the way farm that sold fresh vegetables every day. They also sold flowers, and small trinkets and such. Probably all homemade. We had gone there a million times, and since I moved into my own apartment, I’ve been there once or twice myself.

I was after a trinket. I had to get a gift for a person I didn’t know well, so I figured a homemade gift, not made by me, fit the bill. It was personal, cheap enough, and I knew where to go. Except… today the road was closed. I needed it tonight.

Seems the little stream on Lincoln Street overflowed. There was a rain storm yesterday, (when I remembered I needed to get a gift…) Now there was water and mud everywhere! A sign was up, but all it said was “Road Closed.” Apparently, it either had just overflowed, or the town thought everybody knew how to maneuver around it. I was not one of those everybody’s.

An hour later, I finally made it back home, after apparently taking a tour of Northen Massachusetts. And now, I am buying a bouquet at the local Roche Brothers… which I shop at all the time, and know my way home from…

Such is life.
