A little girl goes to the attic to find an egg, which hatches and out comes a dragon.
"What is that?" Sandy asked out loud as she crept closer to what appeared to be an egg left behind in the attic. "Eggs don't belong up here, the eggs belong in the refrigerator in the kitchen where mom then takes out and cooks them for breakfast. Come here little egg."

The egg suddenly moved and cracked open, and a little claw appeared. Curious, she wondered what was in the egg. Then the egg cracked open some more, revealing a head. Her jaw dropped. A lizard hatching in the attic? It couldn't be possible. But, then again, the temperature was just right for a lizard to thrive. The egg continued to hatch and suddenly a bright light appeared, forcing her to close her eyes. Too bright, she thought as she looked away. When she turned her head back and opened her eyes again she saw that the light was gone. On the place where the egg was stood a dragon! She awed at the cute little dragon. Then the dragon spoke.

"Hello. My name is Marley. I could grant you three wishes as you would like. Careful what you wish for though as some of them has a chance to backfire on you. Like never ever wish for a cat for a pet when your parents are allergic to cats. They will have to get rid of that cat quickly." Marley looked up at her with its golden eyes.

"Okay then. I wish for a set of Nintendo Switch and Pokemon games that I could play on it then. That will be my first wish," Sandy said, thrilled to have a wishing dragon in her attic.

Just then, a box with Nintendo Switch and more boxes with Pokemon games appeared by her side. Quickly, she opened the boxes and took the games to her room to play. She was satisfied with the results, as they seemed to be real and she had two of each so she could trade whenever she wanted to. After an hour of playing on one, the dragon got her attention once again.

"You still have two more wishes to make, Sandy. Make your second wish now," Marley spoke again in a soothing voice.

"I wish to have $1,500 to buy a good used instrument to play with. I want to be in band with my own instrument," Sandy said.

Just then $1,500 appeared by her side and she was filled with joy. She thought about all the instruments she could play on- the flute, the trumpet, the clarinet, the saxophone, and the trombone. There was so much she could do if she could play them all. But for band she could only pick on one. The flute was her favorite instrument, so she was thinking of going for the flute. Just then, she heard a banging on the door and then voices. It did not sound like her parents at all. Footsteps could be heard and she thought she had heard a swear word being spoken.

"I'm scared! I don't know what to do. The phone is downstairs and the intruders are downstairs as well. I don't know what to do. We must hide. I hope they don't take anything. Especially not the TV," Sandy said.

"Search the house. Make sure there is no one home! We'll take everything, including the furniture. Bonus if they have kids. Those games are high price on the market. We could get rich selling their video games, you hear?" A voice boomed so loud she could hear.

"In the closet. You could wish for that they don't look in the closet. Bring your games and money with you as well," Marley encouraged her.

She gathered her games and money and then she and Marley hid in the closet. The footsteps grew closer and closer. What she knew was that there were intruders in the house and that was unwanted. Then she thought of something. Though it would be her third wish, it would be her most important wish of all time. Something that would protect her and her house. If she made the wish right now, Marley might go away, but she would accomplish something.

"I wish for the intruders to leave the house and never come back to steal from us ever again," Sandy said and a tear fell from her eyes. She was going to miss Marley.

"Your third wish coming up. They should be leaving soon. The door might be broken but nothing will be stolen because they haven't had the time to steal anything yet," Marley said.

"Come on, I think I heard a door slam shut. The family might be home by now. We must leave now!" boomed the same voice and the footsteps faded.

Sandy and Marley came out of the closet with her things. She looked at Marley sadly as Marley started to glow. Then they rubbed their noses together for one last time. Marley seemed to know exactly what she was thinking.

"My time has come but I may visit you again. You made a selfless wish and for that you may be granted three more wishes. Now isn't the time though as I must go to my boss. I am just a hatchling you know and need to be in care of my wishing mother and father. I will return if time allows and then I may have good news for you. Take care of yourself and remember me. Here is a flute to call upon me at any time. You must learn to play a specific tune. This flute may work well for your band at school as well. You must learn to play it properly as they teach you to play it. Farewell now," Marley said.

In a flash of light Marley was gone. In its place was a flute complete in a case. Sandy moved over and looked over it. This was no ordinary flute, this was a magical flute. It looked exactly like a flute in the music store. She picked it up to try to blow into it. To her frustration she couldn't make any sound. Then she wondered if her band teacher will help her to play the flute and looked forward to that. For now, though, she could play on her games until her parents arrive.
