A brief insight into my emotions, should be read before any of my other works
Jesus Of Suburbia/Panic Song

Author: Ark

Black, red, purple, and pink; the colors of me. They all have their place and their say in my mind. All I need to tell them apart is their colored eyes and what's behind them. Then again, only one has a physical feature that could distinguish them besides the eyes. Everyone wears my pinned jean jacket, my jeans, and my boots, my things. All of the clothes are jet black, similar to the iris of Jessica.

Jessica’s eyes look like the night sky and her pure white pupil is the moon. Yet there is nothing behind them. Nothing, except for tears. Her head isn’t empty, just scattered. She has nothing but complete apathy for most things; her mind wanders at almost every second of the day. If she isn’t just floating around in her mind nowhere near her body, she’s crying. Burned one too many times, she’s filled with pain and distrust. Her mind only focuses on depression and sadness, it’s the only thing it lets her focus on. It would make sense that Jessica is the oldest of the four, but not by much. To me her eyes aren’t the night and the moon, they are darkness, the darkness of her iris trapping the light of her pupil. Jessica is a fractured part of a broken psyche.

Red, the iris of Petrova. It seems as if there is a lake of blood that surrounds the island of her pupil. Anger and violence engulfs her. She is the most protective out of the four; she uses the rage in her to protect the ones she loves. Petrova is like a caged animal fighting for the survival of her love, livelihood, freedom, and future. She won’t be caged forever though. She just needs to be patient. Although I don’t know if she’ll break out before then. With each passing day she grows more restless. I wish I didn’t have to cage her, but if I didn’t she’d destroy the things I have worked so hard for. Though I know Petrova doesn’t break anything of mine on purpose. Her heart is in the right place but her methods can be indiscriminate. I’m glad I have her, without her spirit of rebellion I don’t think I would be able to go on. Her fury contrasts Jessica’s depression. Petrova is fractured. A fractured part of a broken psyche.

Sapphire’s iris is a pure rose pink; just as she used to be. All she has in her heart is love, but her love is between very few people now. She used to give out love freely, mainly to people she was supposed to love, not because she knew them well enough to love them. Sapphire never questioned who she gave her love to and she got burned as that is the only thing that would come of that.
But neither her nor I expected it from people so close. She lost a part of her. That caused the only physical difference she has from the others, and she wears an eye patch to hide it. Sapphire’s right eye is gone, ripped out of her skull, and a black void as dark as Jessica’s eye fills it. The darkness pulsates like a heart. It occasionally breaks through the eyepatch, as if it wants to overtake her. She let people get too close, and they stole her eye. Leaving a dark void in its place. Now she holds her heart close to her chest and only gives it sparingly. But no matter what, she will always be my favorite. Sapphire is a fractured part of a broken psyche.

The final iris, purple, the eyes of Abby. Elegant and a symbol of royalty, she is the most important of them all. Abby is the one who allows the others to shine through words, although powerful with speech alone. She truly shines with a keyboard or pen and paper. She is the one who allows me to pour my emotions onto the page. She allows me to get my pent up feelings and frustrations out. Whether it be allowing Jessica’s despair and sadness to be expressed, or letting Petrova release all of the anger and rage she has, or giving Sapphire a way to show her love, she will always be the most important. Unlike the others, Abby is whole, I can’t imagine what might happen if she fractured. Just because she is whole doesn’t make my mind any less broken, does it?
