Return to Dweomer

As spring was coming My workers managed to make a few breakthroughs. First, we did learn that we could use wood as a replacement for some parts of both the power armor and vehicles in general. Second, we found a way to make the bolt action rifles and revolvers useful. The common spell from Dweomer called throwing stones combined with the spell thunderclap for the sound of the gunfire.



With this spell, the guns can fire a projectile that has the same power as the C-10 laser rife. along with the same range when useing a rifle. With a revolver, the range is 1000 feet. This is a good choice of weapons when fighting mages. Because it is a projectile spell. So impervious to energy is useless against it.



For that reason, all of us started to carry these revolvers along with the Coalition laser pistol. We even made it part of the gear that we would offer any future employee mages. For those reasons, we were no longer selling revolvers that had that spell combo. They instead were stored away. We did add the modified bolt action rifles to the sale of items.



The girls were now in Dweomer trying to convince Leizak to lift his ban on us making and useing automations. They wanted to be more useful when in battle. Instead of always being the handicap when their husbands battled.



They were even more desperate for the automations because they were both pregnant. When they sent a letter to me by a magic pigeon that we could. The requirement for it though is we have to do it in Dweomer. I joined them in Dweomer alongside the four retired high magi. Because we are defending the Magic zone the ban on us was lifted. Only when we attack are we banned. As in invading the Coalition. To Leizak the automations are made to defend, not attack..

As I mentioned before Dweomer is in a boom time from population growth. The four-six thousand people we brought from around Chicago were useing a lot of resources. We still managed to get our automations. We were restricted to only three battle lords. Anything else would have to be an earth thunder.



For that reason, the four retired high magus walked away with earth thunders. Being they are not on the front lines it made more sense. Now we also have enough muscle to carry the salvage back. Instead of having everyone give me their life energy so that I can repair the robot enough for it to carry the power armors back. Like we did when the kids were spying on us.



Going around the city we grew up in. It allows us to see the differences. on how the city is expanding. For instance, when I was a kid 1/3 of the population was elven. Now it is closer to a quarter. We did not have a manufacturing automation plant like we do now. Techno-wizards, earth elementals, and warlocks are now helping in building them. With that help, they are made 20 times faster.



We went to the open market where as we expected came across our building practices. We saw cars and trucks with wooden panels. Firearms that shoot civilian-grade energy attacks. We even found armor like what we were wearing. When we asked what they used for the armor plates. It was said to be monster shells.



We bought a suit to examine it. Instead, they were useing monster bones, and then useing a die to make it the same color as our own. When tested it was much weaker than our armor. This made the girls upset. So they retired for the day.



We did find some interesting weapons. For instance, techno-wizard gear that could create the magic shield spell. A necktie of power. That has the aura of power on it. powder of cleanse. The powder casts the cleanse spell when poured over the head. The cape of darkness. Casts the spell cloak of darkness when activated.



None of these items are special other than the one that creates a magic shield. That is something I would be willing to use.



One of the retired high magi mentioned seeing a portable fireplace that would light itself and could burn for hours. That would likely use the spells ignite and create wood.



Well, searching the market we come across a dark-skinned elf. I recognize his kind as the jungle elves. Who lives in the psionic portion of the city. The last I knew there were around 200 of them. I go over to the man and talk to him.



He seems to be a merchant marine. That is here stocking the store that bought the stuff he and his fellow crewman brought to the city. I asked him about how things were going for them. Then asked if Garidon was in the city.



I was in luck he was. So I decided to visit the psionics part of the city. The Psi-Enclave The Gods of magic do not trust those who can mess with people's minds. All master and most major psionic users end up in that part of the city. Those with minor psionics can live wherever they want. If I was not born in the city and a psionic healer I would have been there as well.



The others kept shopping well I went alone. After I bought that magic shield of course.



Even though this part of the city is almost like a slum. The Jungle elves who are mostly women and children are safe. The fifty or so adult males work in and around the city. Their presence is tolerable and peaceful. My goal is to bring them to my land. Where they can set up a village. As well as be free of any discrimination. Then I will use Garidon's discretion on who else in this part of the city is worth bringing along. They have been here for forty years.



When I did meet up with him and made my pitch he agreed instantly. He said my timing was perfect there have already started to be some problems. Minor issues but problems nonetheless.



There were only a handful of others that he suggested to join us. I let Garidon know that 1/4 of my property would be for his people. A different quarter will be for other groups I get in the future. Then the last half is dedicated to expanding our military operations.



After our conversation, I sent a magic pigeon to my lands to have them send the other barges. I also notified the authorities that 212 people would be leaving the Psi-Enclave within a few days.



This gives time for everyone to get their stuff, and to inform all the working males. I then went back to the market to look for one of the merchant marines who was working the docs. Luckily I found the same guy I saw earlier. I told him about what Garidon decided. I then told him that a full quarter of the lands would be dedicated to the jungle elves. Where they are free to do as they please. Then I explained how I gained the land and how we are defending it.



He was excited to know that we were also a major trader so that he could live there and still keep his trade. If you do not believe me go ahead and confirm with Garidon himself. He and I have been good friends almost since the day they came through the rift. Also, make sure to spread the word to the other merchant marines.



It would take another 2 months before the first orders for the automations will be ready. Those will belong to the girls. Mine will be ready in four months. Well, the four retired High Magi would have them ready in five months.



The earth thunders are a lot easier to build and are never personalized. The fire demons and battle lords are a lot more work. These three are the most common automations. Other ones do exist but are rather rare.



After everything was set I returned to the inn we were staying at. To inform everyone else about what is happening. We then all agreed that we would make sure to build up a nice place for the coming jungle elves.
