The Lost Hour

The Lost Hour

28

Sam Johnson was late
To a blind date
He lived in a small town
In Iowa.

A town divided by DST
Half the town did not observe it
Half did observe it
It was all so confusing.

Particularly in Spring ahead
And fall back time
When half the city did not
Spring forward
Or fall back.

He got to the bar
And thought
he had the time wrong
He asked people what time it was.

People were divided
some said it was 7 pm
Others said it was 6 pm
A few thought it was 8 pm.

He texted his blind date
Saying that due
to the time change
It was just too confusing.

Perhaps they could meet the next day
Just then she walked in the door
And that was the beginning
Of a 45 year long love affair.

NEW PROMPT DUE 23 hours 13 minutes 8 seconds
Daylight Saving Time ended in the UK and most of Europe on Sunday, Oct. 27 - while it won't end in the US until Sunday, Nov. 3, and some countries (and a few US states) don't observe it at all. Which is very confusing! So for the next week, instead of London being 5 hours ahead of WDC time, it will only be 4 hours. I think? And I have no idea what time it is in Hawaii. As I said, it's very confusing!
