I am sharing the concept of empathy with someone close to me.

I shared the concept of empathy with someone close to me. I told her that I want to work on really listening to others and asking for their feedback.
How did I do? How did it make that person feel? Could you describe my experiences in this topic post?

I shared the concept of empathy with a close friend. After relating a few fundamental issues to me. I implored my friend to give me feedback to check if I was really identifying with the problems and submitting myself to the moments of the situation opening to empathetic listening. She concluded that I was halfheartedly attentive and partially got my body language, countenance, and demeanor to insert myself in the moment. My friend felt cheated on the 'listening moments'; she sighed and spoke.
" Were you listening, or were you just hearing my voice?"
I convinced her that I was listening by relating the scenario and expressing concerns about the sensitive and lengthy pauses with a few sobs.

This exercise allowed me to demonstrate my ability to understand and share another person's feelings and emotions. It allowed me to put myself in someone else’s situation and see things from their perspective.

Empathy is a core ethical value evident in human relations. It allows us to better connect and relate to others. It helps us be more understanding, compassionate, and supportive, ultimately building stronger relationships and experiencing better work relationships with others.
