Halloween Trickster

I hate Halloween, and I'll tell you why,
since it came last year, all I do is cry.
I know who it was that brought on this curse.
It was the trickster who came in a hearse.

I thought him weird when he knocked on my door.
He picked up a treat, then asked me for more.
He gave an odd smile, then left me a note.
I was chilled to the bone by what he wrote.

"Thank you for the treat, now I'll give you one.
it will last from morning til setting sun.
Halloween will be here every day,
and I'll be here too, we're both here to stay."

True to his word, he has been there each day.
Like a statue, he stands in my doorway.
People won't come here, cause he always growls.
At night, like a panther, we see him prowl.

They put on the news that we are a joke.
They refer to us as Halloween folk.
I wish they knew, it's beyond our control.
Daily we suffer by what he has stole.

I'm searching the internet for a witch
and hoping that she can give me a pitch.
How to get rid of this Halloween curse.
Maybe a mixture or some kind of verse.

Alas, she told me it lasts five years.
which made me crumble, reduced me to tears.
Each day is a repeat of day before.
I want this costume put back in the drawer.

Provide an end to this monotony.
All I want is for him to set me free.
I dream at night of running down the road.
If I can't escape, I'm going to explode!

Guess what? Next week is Halloween again.
Year number two, and I remember when
I used to love it - now I can't wait
for the curse to end and release my fate.

Then never will I celebrate the day,
On that night, in my locked house I will stay.
Please beware to all who hear this story
because if you don't, you might be sorry!!!
