A free verse poem for the 13 Poetic Days of Halloween Contest
Long, dark hair, lips blood red
skin so pale, eyes filled with gleaming dread
adores a bunch of dark roses that are dead
(with lots of thorns, of course)
Her very strange family is her pride
her unhappiness is her happiness
she loves all the cobwebby weird things
that her ghoulish existence provides
A majestic creepy house
where she lives with her spooky kids and spouse
no doubt inside there is a mouse
(or two)
She loves her witchy, flowy dresses
and hates cheery things
she's a major girl goth
of that, you can be sure
Forget sunny days
they aren't good for her gloomy ways
give her blacks and greys

And October 31 is her very favorite day (and night).
