I look at empty streets and still see the life that once was there.
In every town and every city, there is a street so lonely
No one walks there anymore, too busy chasing money
I stop to look at the forgotten road and still feel the life
Where people once walked hand in hand, a man and a wife.

Nobody knows this street I know where life has long since gone
The houses there are still standing, they were built so cleverly strong
The memories are fading but the lights still shine on true
Maybe you know a street like this, which holds your memories too.

Children played on the street all day, in the summer sun
Ice cream vans came bobbing along to give the children fun
The street once held a lively buzz as life was growing old
I wrote this poem from my heart so now the story's told.
