Helene was once a charming girl:
Played with dolls and
Painted pictures,
Played with friends and
Chased her brothers.
Helene was happy then.
What happened to Helene?

One day life for Helene shifted.
We know not why the change.
She fought her brothers,
Broke her toys — and theirs,
Came home after curfew,
And wandered 'round the yard at night.
What happened to Helene?

Her teenage years were colored by
Chums she wanted to be like.
She fancied the boys,
Tossed her toys,
And started dressing all in black.
What happened to Helene?

One gloomy night
She turned sixteen
And didn't come home at all.
They combed the forest,
Dredged the lake, and
Checked her favorite haunts.

Today, the search goes on.
