Why am I always so in my head?
I feel his heartbeat echo through my head
As I lay on his chest
Bouncing off the walls inside my skull
My eternal prison
The beats of his pulse entwining, dancing alongside my thoughts of discontent
My Aurora Borialis
Like a wicked cotillion
The ballroom full of whispers
Flying by on the undying wind of my insecurity
Rustling the leaves on the floor
Revealing barren, exposed veins
Of disbelief
Of disillusionment
Of distance
The beat begins to slow
Can his heart hear my somber song?
Is it dancing along?
As I scream into the void
Waiting for the song to be over
So we may lay together
In silence and love
The only music playing, that of our soft breaths
