The life of a lady frog... |
Miss Froggy spends her days on the pond Flies are a food of which she is fond. Sitting on lily pads, eating away Resting in sunshine, on water all day. She never has time to feel sad or blue There's so much outside to see and to do. Chatting with otters, muskrats and fish Who spend their days busily as they wish. In autumn when leaves turn golden and brown Miss Froggy eats extra and then hunkers down; Into the mud she digs a hole very steep And spends the long winter in slumber so deep. Waiting for warmth and sunshine to return To thaw out her pond and sprout the green ferns. One spring was different, a sight to behold Miss Froggy became a mom to little tadpoles They swam in circles around Mama so proud On warm spring evenings they peeped quite loud. The pond became busy, with young critters abounding Tadpoles metamorphosed, safe in their surroundings. One day they'll all be grown-up young frogs Finding their way to new ponds and bogs. And Miss Froggy once more will spend her days in the sun Eating pesky flies and enjoying each one. 24 lines. For more information on the life cycle of frogs, click here.
