Captain Morgan was a blue and gold macaw, Snowflake was an umbrella cockatoo
Upon the fifth day of creation God spoke the Word and gave birth,
To fowls, in open firmament of heaven, that fly above the earth.
Great winged creatures perched upon strong bowels of trees or lofty mountains high.
To smallest kind that sing sweet songs, who walk upon the ground or lowly fly.
Plainly colored, or vibrantly hued, adorned and plumed.
In kings' and warriors' robes their feathers assimilated and assumed.
Adored my most, loved by many, feared by few, worshipped by some,
These gentlest of God's creatures, we have welcomed into our home.
Hand-fed, nurtured, tamed and taught. Trained by patience without end,
To treat us with their tricks, to say, this is "My Bird", this is my friend.
And God saw it was good.
