about vulnerability
I removed my mask because wearing it made me untrue to you
I did it slowly as not to frighten you or push you away
And now here I stand before you, naked and vulnerable
Without armour or walls to protect me
Wanting only love and acceptance for the monster that I conceal
But underneath my mask and behind my walls I am nothing
A beaten, scarred, broken and misunderstood illusion
How selfish of me to assume that you would love me entirely
So my walls will go back up and my mask will hide it all
Because keeping it all hidden allows me to keep you
And I love you too much to ask you
To face my demons with me
