Ext. Wheat field - day

A farmer is farming, then suddenly there is a loud noise and a bright light. The screen flashes white and a building from season zero materializes into the world. The farmer is frozen in shock, but after a moment he turns and runs.

FADE TO:

Ext. WHEAT FIELD - LATER

A fidus soldier is looking around inside the building. He walks outside and talks to another guard who is standing next to the farmer.

Fidus soldier 1

This is the third time this week.

Fidus soldier 2

Where are these things coming from?

FIDUS SOLDIER 1

I don't know. It doesn't make any sense.

FARMER

Wait, this has happened before?

PAUSE

FIDUS SOLDIER 1

That's classified.

(to other soldier)

Come on. We need to get this back.

The two soldiers turn to leave.

FARMER

Wait! You can't just leave this here. How am I supposed to farm?

Fidus SOLDIER 2

Not our problem. It's not our field.

They walk away.

CUT TO:

EXT. Fidus base - day

The two soldiers arrive in their tank and FIDUS SOLDIER 1 goes inside to talk to his boss.

FIDUS SOLDIER 1

Sir... It happened again.

We can see the boss from behind. We can see him turn his head to acknowledge the soldier then turn back. We never see his face.

???. dream sequence - ???

We see SOLUM standing in a black void. He walks through some glowey rings, gets chased by the consequences of his actions, and trips on some hard dream drugs before waking up in the forest with a start.

Ext. Forrest - morning

Solum stands up and sees Scott sleeping a ways away from him. He walks over to him.

Solum

Scott.

Scott does not respond.

Solum

Scott.

Nothing.

Solum

SCOTT!

Scott

(tired)

Mmm. What?

SOLUM

We overslept. I told you we shouldn't have run 20 miles in 2 hours.

SCOTT

Oh, wow I'm sore.

Scott gets up.

Solum

I can't feel my hamstrings

Scott

Good. That means they won't cause you pain. We must press on.

Scott starts to leave but Solum stops him.

SOLUM

Wait.

Scott stops.

SOLUM

We've just been walking forever, but you've never told me where we're going.

There is a pause. Scott Sighs.

Scott

We're going to see a guy.

SOLUM

Go on.

SCOTT

Gunther wasn't at his bunker, which means he was stolen.

SOLUM

Yeah, so where are we going now?

SCOTT

We're resorting to plan B. Head to the rendezvous point and start a search party.

SOLUM

I didn't know about a plan B.

SCOTT

You just joined the team yesterday. There's still a lot I need to tell you.

They both leave and find their way down the path to a small shipping outpost. Once they walk through the gate in the wall Solum spots two Fidus soldiers eyeing him. They don't do anything.

SCOTT

Solum. Over here.

Int. Bar - day

Solum follows Scott into a building with a sign that reads "MILK". The building is empty except for a bartender. They walk upstairs and Scott knocks on a door. HENRY answers.

Henry

Who is it?

Scott

It's Scott. Open up.

The man opens the door and greets Scott.

HENRY

You're ahead of schedule.

(sees Solum)

Woah, who is this?

SCOTT

This is Solum. I picked him up on the road to Gunther's bunker

AWKWARD PAUSE

HENRY

Is he on our side?

SCOTT

He is now, I recruited him.

HENRY

You... recruited him? Scott, you know the Kingdom has very strict recruitment policies.

SCOTT

Yeah well, he seems trustworthy.

Henry turns to Solum.

HENRY

Would you do me a favor and go downstairs for a moment?

Solum looks at Scott who nods.

SoluM

Ok.

Solum walks downstairs and sits at one of the tables. The bartender watches him.

Bar Tender

Hey you.

Solum looks at him.

BAR TENDER

I've never seen you around here before.

Solum

Yeah, I'm new to these parts.

Pause.

BAR TENDER

New? What do you mean by that?

SoLUM

I built a house about a week ago, but it's pretty far from here.

BAR TENDER

Built?

SOLUM

Yeah, with wood.

Pause.

BAR TENDER

If you built it recently, where did you come from before?

SOLUM

You wouldn't believe me.

BAR TENDER

Try me.

SOLUM

I don't remember.

(beat)

There was a bright flash of white and I woke up and built a house.

BAR TENDER

A flash of white you said?

SOLUM

Yeah. I told you you wouldn't believe me.

BAR TENDER

No no, I believe every thing you're saying.

Pause.

SOLUM

Really?

BAR TENDER

Yeah, believer it or not I've heard of someone else who has a story quite similar to yours.

(beat)

Do you remember a large stone building?

Solum has a flashback.

SOLUM

No. I can't remember anything before last week.

BAR TENDER

Hmm, OK. Never heard that one before. But it wouldn't be the weirdest thing I've ever heard. A man made of pumpkin, can you believe something like that?

(beat)

If you will excuse me.

The bartender goes upstairs to talk to Henry. While Solum waits the two Fidus soldiers from before enter the bar. They shoot Solum looks but don't say anything and sit down at a nearby table. The bartender comes back downstairs.

Bar TENDER

(seeing the soldiers)

Good afternoon, gentlemen.

He walks over to Solum

BAR TENDER

They want to talk to you now, you should head up.

SoLUM

What did you say to them?

BAR TENDER

Same thing you told me.

He goes over to the soldiers.

Bar TENDER

So, what can I get for you boys?

Int. Bar upstairs - MOMENTS LATER

Henry

So, you came from one of the flashes?

Solum

I think so.

HENRY

And you've lost your memory?

SOLUM

If you can believe that.

Pause.

HENRY

A lot of weird things have been happening lately... people and buildings appearing out of nowhere. If you came from one of them...

(he trails off)

Alright Solum, I'm placing you under arrest by the authority vested in me by King Aldrich Ferguson.

Pause

SOLUM

Uh... why?

HENRY

You're a suspect in an ongoing investigation. We are going to transport you back to headquarters where you will be interrogated.

Scott

You can't arrest him, he's on our side.

HENRY

No he's not.

SCOTT

Yes he is, I recruited him.

HENRY

You don't have the power to do that, Scott.

SCOTT

We're wasting time. Gunther wasn't at his bunker which means we need to fall back onto plan be.

Pause

HENRY

Right... OK. Follow me.

He looks at Solum.

Henry

You too.

Int. Henry's Room - moments LATER

HENRY

Alright, so, just east of this little shipping outpost is a Fidus base. Today is our lucky day 'cuz they're out on their bi-monthly 11 hour hike, leaving their base almost defenseless.

(to Scott)

I want you to go there and snoop around. There is a prison on the on the south east side of the camp.

Scott

Ok. But only if Solum goes with me.

HENRY

What! No. He's under arrest.

SCOTT

Plan B is that a search *party* goes and looks for Gunther. Me going alone isn't much of a party.

SOLUM

Yeah Henry, let me go.

Henry snaps his head around to face Solum.

HENRY

That's Brigadier Piccolo to you!

He looks back to Scott.

HENRY

Scott, we're undermanned. You know I can't help that.

Scott

Solum goes or I don't.

Pause. Henry sighs, which is more of a grunt.

HENRY

(coldly)

Fine. But if he kills you, I TOLD YOU SO!

Pause

Henry

I say that now because I won't be able to tell you if you're dead.

SICK TRANSITION TO:

Ext. Outskirts of Fidus base - day

We see Solum and Scott standing next to a tree a ways away from the base looking at it.

Scott

I've never done anything like this before, do you have any experience breaking into places.

Solum has another flashback.

Solum

No.

Pause.

Solum

See that guard?

He gestures to the guard standing outside of the prison.

Scott

Yeah.

SOLUM

I'll walk up to him, make myself known, then run away. He'll chase me. That's when you get it.

SCOTT

Are you sure? What if he catches you?

Solum

He won't. I have to prove myself to Brigadier Piccolo. If I do this he might not see me as a threat.

Pause.

SCOTT

You can call him Henry.

SOLUM

Maybe you can. Meet me somewhere over there when you're done.

Solum nods in a direction. Solum goes over to the prison and yells at the guard

Solum

HEY!

The guard sees him.

FIDUS GUARD

Hey! You're trespassing!

Solum runs away without saying anything.

Int. Prison - moments LATER

Scott opens the iron door and lets himself into the prison. He searches all of the cells until he finds an old man.

Scott

Gunther?

The old man turns and looks at Scott.

Albert

Huh?

SCOTT

Are you Gunther?

Pause

ALBERT

No.

SCOTT

Oh, uh... do you know where he is?

ALBERT

If you're looking for someone, they were all taken somewhere yesterday.

SCOTT

Do you know where they went?

ALBERT

Does it look like I'd know?

Pause

SCOTT

Guess not. Did anyone of them look important?

ALBERT

They were all important. Captured by the Fidus for that reason. Except for me. That Gunter you're looking for is with 'em. We all talked to each other about our lives... we had nothing better to do. Gunter has had a pretty interesting life. They all have.

SCOTT

Ugh. Another complication.

ALBERT

Can you uh... let me out of here?

Scott breaks his bars and walks down stairs

Albert

Hey wait. Here take this for your troubles

He throws Scott a piece of TNT.

Scott

Woah! Where did you get this?

ALBERT

Heh. Let's just say that's the reason I'm here in the first place.

The old man leaves.

ext. Woods - later

Scott is standing in a clearing waiting. Solum runs up to him out of breath.

Solum

Ok. I think I lost him... So, Where is he?

Scott

He wasn't there.

SOLUM

What!? Then where was he?

We can hear the Fidus guard shout from far away

Fidus GUARD

I'll find you you small, masked man!

SOLUM

I have an idea.

Solum and Scott hides and the guard stumbles into the clearing

FIDUS GUARD

Where are you?

Solum jumps from behind him, grabs him, and throws him to the ground. Solum then punches him in the face, knocking him out.

Int. Bar UPSTAIRS - Night

The fidus guard wakes up in a cage in the other bedroom. A light is shined in his eyes.

Solum

Hello.

FiDUS GUARD

Where am I? Who are you?

SOLUM

Shh. I ask the questions here. Where's Gunther.

FIDUS GUARD

Who?

SOLUM

Gunther. The man you kidnapped.

FIDUS GUARD

I didn't kidnap anyone.

SOLUM

Then why were you guarding a prison?

FIDUS GUARD

Because that's what I was told to do.

Scott

Where did you guys take the people in the prison?

Pause.

FIDUS GUARD

Ohhh. I know what this is. You're going to torture information out of me aren't you? Well too bad! I've been waiting for this day my whole life! Do your worst.

Solum and Scott look at each other and decide to leave.

Solum

(to guard)

Don't move a muscle

FIDUS GUARD

Doesn't look like I have a choice.

They leave an close the door behind them.

INT. BAR UPSTAIRS - Moments LATER

Scott

He's not talking.

Henry is looking out of the door to the deck.

Henry

You guys are crazy.

Solum

Do you have a better idea?

There is a pause. Henry closes the door and walks over to them.

HENRY

If the Fidus figures out about this we're going to the top of their want list.

Scott

We're already on their want list. We're part of the Kingdom, remember?

Pause.

HENRY

Yeah, just get the info outta him. The clock's ticking.

He goes back into his bedroom. Solum and Scott find their way to the front porch of the bar.

EXT. Bar porch - NIGHT

Solum

What should we do?

Scott

Wait. He'll break eventually.

The camera moves away from the two of them and down the street. It stops as it reveals the feet of a man walking to wards them. He stops.
