A conflict of the mind, between empathy and apathy.
There's nothing to be depressed about.

But there is, I'm not happy.

So what? You're loved ones are cared for.

They are using you.

They're not, they want the same thing I do.

What's that? Happiness?

Of course, what else?

A free ride.

No, they wouldn't do that.

Why wouldn't they? They only care about themselves.

I don't want to believe that.

But it's true.

But if they don't care then who will?

Nobody cares. It's the nature of apathy.

But empathy is better than apathy.

Is it? Empathy is hard work.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

But doing nothing is easier.

But I have to do something.

What can you do?

I can be more assertive.

But you don't stick up for yourself.

I can, and I will.

They'll just take advantage like they always do.

No, they'll see my empathy for them.

No they won't. They don't care.

I'll make them care.

You'll just lose in the end.

No, we'll all win in the end.

How?

With compassion and understanding.

They don't have that. They don't have empathy.

Then I'll give it to them. Make them see.

They'll only betray your trust.

No, they'll see my empathy.

No they won't.

They will, and I'll be better for it.

Good luck.

I don't need luck, I have you.

What?

You're my conscience.

That's why I know the truth. And so do you.

They'll see my empathy and want the same for themselves.

You might be right, but what if they do betray you?

Then forgiveness will be the remedy.

What if they don't want your forgiveness?

It's not theirs to give.

You think they'll accept it?

With an open heart, I believe so.

We'll see.

I guess we will. Thank you.

For what?

For being my conscience.

Empathy, a strange trait.
