Review of THE RULE OF THREES

I've read a few Jeffrey Deaver titles; enough to know I should prepare for plot twists. However, THE RULE OF THREE, which I thought I had a firm handle on from the very beginning, twisted so adroitly, so efficiently, and so extensively, it was more coiled than a Boa devouring prey. I'm categorizing it as perfect for March Mental Illness theme AND March Neurodivergence theme, because there's a ton of both sociopathy and psychopathology in this novella. The author dips a toe into the psychology of the characters, enough of a nod so we readers know he knows; but primarily he lets the story flow and reveal its own secrets. Left me speechless.
