A short poem, eight lines, regarding the fate of the Franklin Expedition in 1845.
                   Unplanned

HMS Erebus and HMS Terror set sail in 1845,
Their quest was bold and brave, yet none survive.
No matter how hard you try, some things don't always turn out,
Their mission was straightforward: find an alternate route.

Time and conditions were against them from the beginning,
The mission failed, and all lives were lost; there was no winning.

In 1848, Franklin was dead, a command from the captains turned into folly,
When searches stop, bodies are not found; any last words are scrawly.
